I've just received one of those 'we have videoed what you were doing' emails. As I get a couple a day it's not a worry, plus I have very high end paid for security (and my camera is covered).
I use different email addresses for different websites so I know where they come from. This is from myspace but others come from hotel websites and other sites that I've used a specific email address. I've never got anything using my facebook, twitter or NSC address.
Anyway, the difference with this email is that it has told me my password. PANIC sets in and I'm changing all my passwords.
The only thing I don't have is a VPN. Can I get something installed on my router?

I got the same email last week.

I use three levels of password, one for forums (such as NSC), one which is more complicated for emails/facebook/twitter, and then one which is very complicated for credit cards and banks.

The password they had was the weakest one, but it still freaked me out somewhat.

You've not been compromised in any way, the chances are a site you have used at some point has been, and the bad guys have accessed that email/password data and are using it in quite a creative way.

If you have an important email address, just keep that away from the websites. Not sure you need to do much more than that.

I once tracked down one of these emails and even found their FB profile. They can be pretty dumb.

I reported the same scam to the City of London police and mentioned it on here last week. They too had picked up on of my passwords which makes it a bit scarier. I dread to think of the damage they could inflict if they got hold of a bank’s confidential data.
It does remind folk to change passwords from time to time but these people are are real pain in the ars*.

What a good site.

Seems like it was bloody linkedin. What a tragic decision of mine to ever join. Spam emails by the bucketload, now very likely to have compromised my details.
