The team that should play next Sunday if everybody was fit....

Formation 4-3-1-2

Gk - David James
Rb - Glen Johnsen (let's get him in there early doors)
Lb - Wayne Bridge (what a player)
Cb - John Terry ( Nuff Chelsea players in the back 4 innit)
Cb - Sol Campbell

The three in midfield will line up left to right..

Lampard Gerrard Beckham (capt)

Then Scholes in the hole behind Michael Owen and the boy Rooney.

What do you think?

Agree with all but I do not think Terry is that good for England. Makes various mistakes can't clear balls properly.

Is Ferdinand ok to play? What's the deal with the drug test problem? I have no idea!

But I agree with everything else.

Meopham, Kent.
I'm sure the FA will impose an England ban on Rio, regardless of how the "official" wranglings go.

I think John Terry is class. Rarely seems to make mistakes and his distribution and reading of the game are so much better than Campbells. Him and Ferdinand would be my choice...

Ferdinand cannot be played under FA rules. He is currently awaiting a hearing due to missing his drugs test.

I agree with this as if we were to play for example the Krauts and say hammered them 5-1 again, they could then ask for a rematch due to Ferdinand being included.

How anyone can forget a drugs test when the result could determine your future is beyond me! (unless of course he is trying hide something)

John Terry is doing a great job and feel is more than suitable as a replacement!

John Terry is class, no question.

Ferdinand is okay to play i think but i think Terry is the better defender nowadays.

~I knew no-one would agree with me, but IMHO Terry hasn't had a good game for England. I think he is a very good Premiership player but cannot "crack" it for England, unlike Ferdinand who does.:lolol:

:jester:

He hasn't had the chance though, he looks incredibly assured for Chelsea now and has the potential to become a world class centre back, unlike Ferdinand who clearly needs drugs to play well.

The problems facing Sven are as follows:

1. Identify replacement for Rio Ferdinand.
2. Make progress on the issue of the left-side of midfield and defence.
3. Identify best foward line-up.

IMHO Danny Mills is not international class, Gary Neville is No. 1 but has his bad moments so Glen Johnson deserves a run-out. If Sven believes Rooney is the man to partner Owen he should start him and give him at least 75 mins. Rooney needs to go into Euro 2004 Finals with goals behind him.

I also think the goalkeeper position in the squad is weak and would give Dean Kiely a place on the bench (unless I've missed something and he's registered for Ireland or something!!)

My line-up, in 4-4-2 formation, would be:

1. James
2. G. Neville
3. Bridge
4. Terry
5. Campbell
6. Gerrard
7. Beckham
8. Scholes
9. Rooney
10.Beattie
11.Ashley Cole

Subs: Kiely, Johnson, Southgate, Lampard, Jeffers (fit?)

AGREED, Lampard is now definately benefiting playing alongside Makele (hope that's spelt right).

IMHO Lampard is fast developing into a world class midfielder who more importantly gets goals.

I think I agree with you Chappers.

Or

Robinson (get some confidence back in him)

Lampard is at his peak in the game, and has been playing excellently for some time now. It is nice to see that Chelsea have brought many world class players and Lampard has still kept his place from working hard.

Sorry, Robinson's lost the plot and looks shit. He should have moved over the summer.

Owen is out injured so can't play. Time to try some other strikers.

I believe Cudicini is now eligible. He is the best goalkeeper in the Premiership and we should give him a run out.

I think Terry has been class for Chelsea AND England.
