WENT TO SEE ONE OF MY TWINS PLAY FOOTBALL YESTERDEY (EASTBOURNE BOROUGH UNDER 14S) WHEN MY LAD JACK GOT A NOSE BLEED IN THE SECOND HALF AND HAD TO BE SUBBED. THE SUB CAME ON CALLED JOSH BRIGGS WHO HAD BEEN PLAYING FOR MANY YEARS. JOSH COLLAPSED SOON AFTER COMING ON AND EVEYONE AROUND COULD SEE IT WAS VERY BAD (INCLUDING JOEL LYNCH WHO WAS AT THE GAME) AS WE WAITED FOR AN AMBULANCE WHICH SEEMED TO TAKE FOREVER MOUTH TO MOUTH AND HEART MASSAGE WAS GIVEN. SADLY JOSH DIED IN HOSPITAL. WE HAD SHORT SERVICE AT EASTBOURNE BOROUGH YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AND AS YOU CAN IMAGINE EVERYONE INVOLVED IS DISTRAUGHT.

Words are so inadequate a time like this (especially from strangers on an Internet message board) but obviously that is terrible news and my heart goes out to Josh's parents, family and friends. My lad plays under 14 (for Withdean) so he would probably have come up against Josh at sometime over the years, I can imagine how devasted we would feel if it had happened to one of our boys.

absolutely terrible, cant imagine that happening at all :(

Awful news. But thanks for sharing it with us.

Football is a very supportive community. I hope that Josh's family and friends get all the support they need at this dreadful time.
