My first game this season and from what I can see we have 4 quality players.

Dicker - 9 today absolute rock in midfield. Which leads me to ask why on Earth has he not played EVERY game.

Forster - 8 today what would be do without Nicky ?. Be bottom of the league thats what.

Dickenson - 8 today ok his missed 2 good chances to score but he was in the right place, he also scored and showed some superb touches and grafted his nuts off, very impressed with his work ethic and attitude.

Bennett - 7 today it was clear this lad has a lot to come, exciting prospect

Thats it.

In other words he has not played every game.

Interesting that you feel we should sack Slade, but yet three of the four players you think are good were signed by him.

US can you see why people were still so positive despite our crap start now? Take away our defence (tunni excluded) and we have the makings of a very good side. We are a much better footballing side than last year. If we can sort our defensive frailties and add some further quality signings in january, i feel we will in places.

The midfield looked promising and the attack is quite potent. The defence were woeful.

Uncle I, amongst others, have had a bit of a go at you in the past for moaning consistently without having been to a game.
Very interested to know if it was better or worse than you were expecting. I am thinking that you were pleasantly surprised by how good our front 6 were. I am also thinking you weren't in the slightest bit surprised by the calamitous performance from our defence.
All in all though, can you now see why so many fans still think that we deserve to be higher up the table given just a bit more consistency and a lot more luck?

From what I could see and have read the first half microcosimed the entire season. The attack wre good. I knew Forster was good but I was suprised at how good Dickenson played considering the stick he has got. The defence I would rather not talk about. Still it was an entertaining game with 6 goals and good value for money. I MAY be back.

We deserve to be exactly where we are!!!! You need more than luck with defending like that!!

A fair observation, really.

One hopes that, to have ambitions for a higher division, a team should always have a larger number of players ALREADY worthy of that next division. OUR next division IS written all over that team - and I think US just-about spelled it out which division that will be.

I think you can add Crofts to that four. Dickinson had by far and away his best game for us today. Did not fall down looking for stupid free kicks, jumped and won headers, chased and did not whinge at officials. Yes he should have scored/done better with two early chances, but he deserved a goal and hopefully it will be a confidence boost for him and he will continue to improve.
He also linked with Forster better than he has done previously, although at times I thought they were too far apart.
Bennett is one of the best players we have had for some time and will only get better. He poses a threat, is a great outlet and puts dangerous balls in to the box. Was unlucky not to cap his performance with a goal today.

I agree the 4 players you've mentioned are good. I'd be interested to see the following midfield. Bennett (RM) McLeod (LM) Livermore (CM) Dicker (CM).

I know I'll get launched for saying McLeod and Livermore. But Livermore is proven at this level and got promoted with Millwall and how many games has he actually played in the centre of a two man midfield? I'd be surprised if it's more than 5. McLeod was fat and useless last year. But, he was a feature of Colchesters promotion from League one and he's lost the weight and looked good in preseason. He was ok at Brentford away but understandably the fans didn't have much patience.

Navarro looks cack. Davies looks average. Cox is ok. But I still think the 4 above would be a good mixture.

Did not winge at officials, you sure? He was 1 winge away from a yellow card in my opinion.

Totally agree with this: Dicker and Bennett vying for MOM for me, Forster and Dickinson looking good up front. Lob McNulty and a back to form Whing into the pot along with Crofts and Tunnicliffe and you're looking more than half way decent.

Dicker could also have scored with that lovely lob in the second half and it would have been a deserved goal.

(I'm sure I heard on the radio that we had 28 shots - how did we not win this game??)

Ive thought the same about Livermore since last season when Adams refused to play him, I'm afraid that we have ruined him now though :(
