Yes, i'm back at my girlfriends from the match already, i don't have a rocket car!

This is probably going to turn into somewhat of a rant, so i appollogise in advance for that.

Plain and simple i thought we were shit.

Kuipers kept us in it for long periods and it was unfortunate that i feel he was partly to blame for there late late equaliser. The defence was busy for most of the match and hawkins put in some vital challenges, elphich was good. Whing and Richards mediocre. Anyinsah or whatever his name was looked lively and won us the penalty, which from where i was was clearly a penalty, getting maulled down running into the box. Murrey dispatched the penalty straight down the center as thier keeper dived to his right. This was on a counter attack well against the run of play.
Virgo seemed to be on another planet for a lot of the match, not his best by far and apart from a few decent moment Livermore didn't really get into the game. El abd did little. Murrey looked pretty lost upfront and it was on a counter attack spearheaded by sub Thornton who looked pretty useful and should have started infront of Frazer who does his best but in my eyes just isn't up to it yet. Cox came on late and played some 'interesting balls' like sixty yard back passed to thier keeper, but looked lively. Forster came on and looked good but didn't have long enough to stamp his autority on the game.

We were both lucky and unlucky today. How we almost won i don't know.
I don't know if we were complacent today after beating Man City but we were disorganised and second to almost every ball.
Our passing was attroscious (Like my spelling!) and i don't think i can remember us stringing together five passes all game.
If they had any sort of poke upfront and we didn't have Kuipers it would have been a rugby score today.

We didn't deserve the point but left feeling hard done by with the draw.

We need to improve ten fold if this season is going to mean anything, what i saw today was worse than sides i've seen be relegated.

Anyway that football, i'll leave you with the thought:

A lot of the Northampton fans (Probably half!) left after we scored our second. HA HA HA. Serves them right!

Hope you feel better for getting that off your chest lizard. You were obviously very disappointed, but you didn't descend to verbally abusing any of the players. Well done for a good report as you saw it.

I think that you will find that a virus has effected many of the team, and it was bound to show in their performance.

Lizard, your opinion of the match was shared by the radio commentry which indicated we were fortunate to get a point.

Overall considering how much we were outplayed I think it was a point gained.
I really think playing Virgo anywhere but in defence is a mistake. He looks lost elsewhere.
Think Murray would look better playing with wingers also. We had no width at all today.
Having said that he took his 2nd goal really well.
Thornton and Anyansah both look good and hopefully will both start on saturday in a 442 with Forster alongside Murray upfront and Virgo at the back.

I don't think MA will play Virgo at the back, he was a different class At Crewe playing in the center and Virgo is not as good at the back as Elphich, Hawkins or Lynch.
It was just a bad game today.
We do need two up front with wingers. We were desperately lacking all over the park today.

that is pretty much what I said on harty's phone in.

If this is an example of Adams tactics, then I say forget this bloke from Cov and Savage and play 5 up front and 5 in defence and not bother with a midfield.

Why do we keep banging the ball 50 yards over the heads of the midfield. The ball spend 90% of the game in the air!!!

We were extremely fortunate to get a point

First half Livermore looked a good player, precise passing and read the game well. We defended well in the first half as well, their main chances were from set pieces, not open play. The penalty was dubious, Anyinsah was pulling their player first but then he resorted to pulling Anyinsah twice as hard.

It was the second half where things went wrong. We completely lost our shape. Livermore was moved to left hand side of midfield and was a totally differnt player. Whing and Richards were often out of position, yet Elphick and Hawkins still defended well against a good striker. Then Micky made his substitions. Thornton came on and didnt seem to know where he was playing, he looked reasonably sharp but didnt do alot apart from one run, he looks to have potential though. Virgo was being moved from position to position and seemed unsettled. El-Abd lost the partial control he did have in the defensive midfield role.

Draw was probably a fair result, just a shame we couldnt have gone out in the second half and killed the game off early.

If there is a vius going round then fair enough but the best performance we have had for soem time is when we try and play with the ball. On Wednesday against City we had passers on the field in Loft and then later in Anyinsah and Cox and Thommo passed great too. Against Northampton only Anyinsah was on from the start and the inability to find front players was stark. Our second goal was made by Thornton and Cox.

Right now we have creativity in the squad but its not being played from the start. Why is Mickey so afraid to use it? Faillure to play an attacking midfielder who can pass will consign us to mid table mediocrity at best. Its just such a dreadful waste.

Kuipers made some brilliants saves to keep us in the game. We were completely outplayed off the park in all areas. I honestly thought we were lucky to get a draw. We didnt desserve it. We looked tired.

What a goal by Murray and I thought we sealed an undeserved win, and was gutted when we conceeded at the end.

Hawkins was clearly carrying an injury so why on earth play him, especially when Virgo played so well at the back. HAwkins looked awful, harldy won a challenge and couldnt kick the ball 2o yards.
Virgo was terrible wherever his position was, left wing/upfront? When will Adams realise that Virgo is a defender and a good one at that!!

We really werent at the races, and took the lead twice against the run of play, but I guess I can only credit the lads for getting a result after such a poor performance.

The formation played yesterday made everyone looked confused, and that maybe led to the poor performace, but playing badly away from home and getting a result is great in my book. Just need to kick on with the home form.

Murray was back to his best, and did well upfront, taking his goal really well. I thought Forster should have scored, but he didnt kick the ball hard enough.

Elphick played well at the back, winning some great last ditch challenges on the floor and in the air.

Only 3 players played OK, so a draw was a good result for us

Didagre with this. I think Virgo is better at the back than Hawkins and Lynch and possibly Elphick as well.
Yes Virgo played well in midfield at Crewe but has looked lost there in every game since.

Cheers for that. That's just saved me about 10 minutes writing out almost exactly what you wrote. The only thing I would add is that when we finally went 4-4-2 for the last 10 mins or so, you know you're in a spot of trouble when your midfield partnership is Virgo and El-Abd. Oh, and Elphick was immense today.

In fairness to Virgo, he was one of the players worst hit by the illness.

I wonder when Micky is finally going to twig that he needs to play players in their natural positions in order to get the best out of them? The way he constantly moves players all over the place, even when they are performing well, must be very unsettling for the squad. It's also bloody annoying for the supporters.

Then you have to question why he's playing. It's seems with Virgo and Hawkins that if they are even half fit they will play, it doesn't work.
