My car HEATER is broken

With impeccable timing, just before winter, the heater in my motor appears to have packed up. The aircon is still fine, but when I want some WARMTH, I just get cold air coming out.* This is particularly annoying, as I quite look forward to a nice warm, drowsey drive to work in the mornings and home in the dark evenings, specially with a bit of music on. It often has me nearly nodding off, which is a lovely way to end the working day.

Could it be something SIMPLE like a fuse that needs replacing ? Or would that probably be NUFFIN to do with it, meaning I'll have to take it in and have someone completely dismantle the dash and rape my bottom through my wallet ? :

*I have switched it off and on again.
what a wank thing to put "IT OFTEN HAS ME NEARLY NODDING OFF, WHICH IS A LOVELY WAY TO END THE WORKING DAY"... AND POSSIBLY END SOMEONE ELSES LIFE :tosser:

Can you trace the heater hoses that leave and return to the engine/radiator.
Do they both get hot?

Most likely cause is knackered thermostat as mentioned by somebody earlier. That is the best place to start as it is cheap and easy to do. Test if heater pipes are getting hot if not that is your answer probably. Could be shit in the rad but as Winstone said 'how often officer'

It was a bargain.
I'll just have to buy a CARDIGAN now though, by the looks.

:(

If you bought a Rover expect a hefty bill for the head gasket sooner rather than later -Working for a breakdown company it is a well known fact that this is a common Rover fault.

Just keep a bottle of this in your car - glug liberally at the start of every journey and whenever you feel cold, and hey presto! - All over body warmth (from within). This should also help you nod off as well.

Happy driving...

Take a pile of wood and some matches with you, when you get cold, just start a little fire.

(For any small children watching, please, PLEASE start lighting fires in cars)

or ideally do what they did in Top Gear and make a living room in your motor, that way you get the warmth of the fire AND get to play playstation on the way home!

Take a travel Hairdryer with you and plug it into the ciggy lighter. Sellotape it to the steering wheel and bobs your fathers brother.

I've got a Rover and the heater fan only works on position three, So it's either a blast of hot air or cold. Not that this helps you though.

Switchgear fault, easily fixable IIRC - guessing its a 25? Few mates had this happen to MG ZRs (same car).
