BennettsFieldBunny has given another clue. He states that the deal is getting closer and the player also has a 'B' in their name.

He's also just added that CMS will be gone by the end of the week. Not sure how reliable he is though. If we sign someone that fits all the clues he has given in the next couple of days, it would be fair to expect CMS is off.

Read an interesting piece last night on Beckford and posted it on some thread or other

His deal at Leicester....................... £28,000 per week basic PLUS £5000 per match PLUS a £250,000 loyalty bonus at the end of each year. (£1.4m +potentially £230K + £250K = just short of £2million a year over, say, a three year contract) after paying whatever fee he is likely to command - say £2.5m (or even a straight swop for CMS)...................... still very very expensive

Can we compete with that?

Do we want to compete with that?

I think that would be too much for somebody who has never performed as well as people would have expected out of League 1.

Beckford is not worth anything like that. I will be pretty concerned if we get him to be honest.

If its one in and one out, still leaves us short. Will be disappointed if CMS goes, top bloke and still have faith he would score a hatful at this level. 2M for Beckford and his salry and attitude is a big gamble !!!

Hence the reference today to "another one, something different." I took that to mean one in one out regarding a specific target who will come in when CMS goes, but then another one will follow.

Don't rule out the CMS/McCormack swap,,,,it was as good as done a couple of weeks ago. It could well be all off or it could just be managers trying to squeeze everything they can out of the deal to get the best for their respective clubs....X wants to stay now, Y is going nowhere etc etc...

maybe we would only do the CMS/McCormack swap once we signed ANOTHER striker (Murray/Beckford/Zamora/Owen/Messi whoever)

So the McCormack / CMS deal could still be on, and we could be in for Beckford. Beckford, Barnes, and McCormack, wouldn't mind that all especially with service from Buckley Lualua Vicente Crofts ect. However, not sure how I would feel about CMS leaving.

Beckford, Barnes, Braddock, Buckley, Bullard, Bellamy and Bichael Bowen in a swap deal for CMS, M&S, BHS, ARS and VHS is surely the most sensible option for both us, Leeds United, Tranmere Rovers, Accrington Stanley and West Highland Ladies second XI twice removed I would have thought at this stage with the season only a week or so away.
