The share price has dropped another 5% since that article was published on Tuesday!

By almost 1/3 since Trump's inauguration.
Whilst I like the direction of travel, it'll take a truly spectacular fail for him to be anything other than disgustingly rich.

I'm not sure what is an accurate figure for his current net worth - $350bn? $300bn?

Let's say 300.

Even if he lost 99.9% of that, he'd still have $300m (10 times what was seen as an almost impossible amount of money to spend in Brewsters Millions)

Mind you, he's such an egotistical twunt, if everything went truly south, he'd probably try to spend his way out of it and end up owing money.

I live in hope...

You can have democracy or democracy-rotting websites like X. You can't have both.

Make the choice which is more important.
There you have it, democracy only works with heaps of censorship.

Historically those pushing censorship have always been the bad guys.

even with tesla stock and sales falling I was under the inpression his personal wealth is growing?

The mind boggles. Its lucky that he is in charge of streamlining thr government so they can find out who has all the money.

I suspect it the benefit cheats and undocumented migrants.

NSC is a good example these days of values as opposed to censorship.

In the days where I was on Facebook (I left because I didn't like the way they were headed) I found that a group that didn't accept folk who made nasty and unfounded comments was a thriving group. NSC is the same. For every one person chucked off there will be multiples that start posting.

There is a difference between allowing people to express their thoughts and allowing people to turn places into Lord of the Flies. A lot of people who really don't like it are actually saying 'Why can't we be nasty and call people names or make unfounded accusations ?'. Well, they can. But elsewhere. And what percentage of NSC has been chucked off ? not even 2% I would have thought.

This is where modern society causes upset. But it seems that most are happy with this, although with some reasonable objection at times.

I always ask which society folk prefer- 1975 where bullying, corruption, discrimination, sexism, hompohobia and racism were allowed to manifest freely and without check and a feral media allowed to run riot; or 2025 where much, but certainly not all of that, has been checked by a value and standard, risen from our own generation, that makes it unacceptable.

What free speech do you feel has been so wrongly taken away ? For the most part, I do not feel at all restricted in my life. If i want to say that I think this government is awful, I can. If I want to say that I feel there is too much immigration, I can. I can pretty much say what I want in a considered manner.

But to me, much of the opposition to the perceived lack of free speech is folk getting upset that they can't be a c*** anymore. And localising it, here on NSC, it was always the most ugliest of posters who were loudest complainers.

Anyway, for a safe haven, there's still Argus Comments. I mean you have to give folk somewhere to go.

You'll be unhappy to know then that X has already approved more government censorship requests than Twitter ever did.

Not to mention the fact that using the prefix "cos" gets you shadowbanned on X. It's a problem in the scientific community as it's used a decent amount but Elon's fragile ego gets hurt so he censors stuff.

Nobody is as pro censorship as the right wing. Free speech only ever applies to them.

Tesla is still worth more today than it was on election day, 5th November. Musk won't be rummaging around in the yellow sticker section of the supermarket just yet.

It really isn't worth spending any time debating the impact on his affluence of all this - Tesla is now worth under half of Musk's wealth - his holdings in SpaceX, xAI and X are worth more combined, and two of those could still increase in value significantly.

What could be interesting is if there is a shareholder revolt at Tesla, and he's ousted. That could be quite a hit to his ego.

There is much truth in what you say. The US at this time is talking much of free speech whilst going after opponents of the government in different ways and banning parts of the media from access.

As a governement they seem to be doing more censoring than ever before.

Opponents being threatened, critics being silenced. Books being banned, allies being amplified on social media.

And of course lickers being persuaded that nothing is happening and its all the woke left.

Bollox. X uses algorithms that promote disinformation. It isn't a free speech platform, it is propaganda promulgation.

Do you think prosecution under the trades description act is also censorship? Should we be allowed to shout 'fire' in a crowded theatre? 🤦

Ford is a company with a long track record. Tesla was a niche company, whose niche is now being filled by offerings from many established car companies, and also a significant number of new companies.

In 2024 Ford made over 2 million vehicles. The value of Ford is $37 billion.
In 2024 Tesla made 1.8 million vehicles. The value of Tesla is $883 billion.

Why on earth is Tesla valued and more than 20 times Ford? Does anyone want to buy Tesla shares at the current level?

I 'trojaned' into a financial seminar a few years ago. Ford's balance sheet or something was screened. I suggested that it was insolvent on the figures and the host said it was 'too big' for the government to allow it fail. Do you reckon their new government will take the same view?
