The only musical I've paid to see was Starlight Express. Not the greatest experience of my life but certainly not the worst either.

West End musicals can be good but the ones on screen are pants, cant remember which one it was but theres a basketball scene in one and it is the most gayest thing I've ever seen :lolol:

Also how does everyone always know the words ???

West Side story?

I personally love musicals :)

Saw the Rocky Horror Show last week in Brighton, what an experience. Seen most of the musicals in London, always top nights out.

Cats was good and I was sad enough to see Tommy four times including the last performance. Lion King & Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang were OK for the kids but not worth £35+ a ticket.

Leonard Bernstein's mind-blowing score for West Side Story is one of the finest pieces of music ever created, anywhere, IMHO.

Musicals can be very hit and miss but i guess it all boils down to taste. What i have deduced is that theones i have enjoyed the most had the best story lines and were not just a flimsy excuse to break in to song

The ones i can definitely recommend are:

The Producers- Bloody funny and a bit saucy in places.

We Will Rock You - Good story and of course the Queen music

Blood Brothers- I was very suspicious of this one as i had no prior knowledge but when i saw it it was awesome. Just a simply great story

Sat Night Fever- Everyome remembers the great film and you can't help tapping your feet

The ones i thought were pants:

Mamma Mia- If you love Abba you'll obviously love it but i thought the plot was weak

Chicago- Saw this only last week and thought it was very overrated and one dimensional

In Oct 2006 'Spamalot' will be coming to the West End and is based on Pythons Holy Grail. That should be a cracker

Musicals are brilliant!

Live ones are great

That foreign one I have on DVD is wicked - Oliver

"Shut up and drink yer gin!" best line ever written I think.

:drink:
