I pretty much agree with some of the above statements. If you look at the late-60s/early-70s Stones as a separate entity, then they are peerless. However, taking their career as a whole, the unrelenting string of dross they have churned out post-Some Girls blots their copybook severely.
The Smiths at least has the good sense to quit while they were ahead.
The Stone Roses didn't have enough of a career to compare them properly.
Oasis and Blur - a few good tunes, but both over-rated.
The Cure for me although the Stones are odd bedfellows for the rest of the list, as you say it's your favorites. Having said that if pushed to pick I'd probably have The Cure as my all time favorite anyway when aggregating their overall recorded work and continually epic live performances
