LeeFest makes me chuckle. Not been but love the concept and history of it. The Leegypt area sounds fun.

Used to love the Essential Music Festival up at Stanmer Park in the nineties. Three-dayer comprising Indie Day, Dance Day and Reggae Day (the last of which one year stretched the definition or reggae to just about breaking point by including James Brown if memory serves!). Always used to go to Dance Day, where saw such classic bands as Underworld, Fluke and Chemical Brothers. Fantastic days! Sadly I think it got zapped by the countrywide Foot 'n' Mouth epidemic.

This. It gone run out of Brighton for breaking the rules of its license, pitched up briefly in London then moved to Bristol. It is debatable what happened next but I my take is that it was down to financial problems.

Been to a few. Beautiful Days has been my favourite although I've missed the last two and can't go this year Glastonbury I'd recommend to anyone as it is a unique experience, it really is fantastic. End of the Road is another little beauty too. In my time also done Monsters of Rock (Donington/Paris), Knebworth, Sunrise Celebration, SXSW, Torhout in Belgium, as well as The Essential and Great Escape down here, amongst others.

Can't beat a good festival, the nearest thing to one I'm doing this year though is the Sabbath British Summer Time show in Hyde Park.

My first ever festival, as a 16 year old, in 1971. Weeley. Had everything -- Hells Angels security, no camping area (people just slept/camped in the arena), massive crowd, fantastic line up, amazing selection of recreational pharmaceuticals...

I've been to loads over the years including

Stone Henge in 1982 and 1983. That was quite an experience and the last times a proper festival was held there.

Glastonbury 1984 and 1986

Donington (now Download) probably in double figures now as have been going off and on since it started in 1981 (and off there this weekend!)

Reading several times in the 80's

Leeds (last year - just for System of a Down)

V (just to see Red Hot Chilli Peppers)

Probably others I have forgotten.

This was the one. The prodigy that night were brilliant. Such a hot packed tent.

That is one AMAZING line-up aye!

I've not gone to any of the major UK festivals - only SW4 a few times and Beachdown.

I've been to the Exit Festival in Novi Sad, Serbia, which was EPIC and also SXSW in Austin, Texas which was a great experience, but not in the true festival sense.

I'd quite like to go to Glasto one day, but do worry that it would quite live up to expectations (and I'm not entirely sure why!)

Bestival in 2012: From Earth Wind and Fire, to Stevie Wonder, and then people like Madeon and other dance/house act's i've wanted to see for a long old time. Was brilliant, shame about the queues though. In fact, it was almost too warm weather wise.

Isle of Wight Festival 2013: Blondie being the highlight. Brilliant time, and being walking distance from Newport made it far more enjoyable, being able to walk 20 minutes into town for a fry up and a cold pint. The whole town is pretty much taken over, and having family in Newport as well was handy.

Hopefully off to Coachella next year with a mate, now that i'm looking forward to.

Just Rock am Ring a few years ago..
Line-up and atmospheres were good, distance from camp sites to music areas was a bit of a pain,as was getting in and the camp-site and everything sorted, German efficiency, not..
Overall experience was good, although I am more tempted to go to one of the smaller ones in Germany next time..

I had no idea where I was going - it was pretty much random. I was 18 and doing a summer working 'soccer' coaching at a summer camp in the Catskill Mountains - upstate New York. A mate and I had 2 or 3 days off, and a couple of American lads who worked in the kitchens, said they were going camping if we fancied tagging along. My vagueness was purely BEER fuelled, to be fair, so not ENTIRELY in keeping with the original.

Latitude a few years back - great line up (Interpol, Sigur Ros, Mars Volta), really good comedy line up, very clean festival and nowhere near as busy as the big ones.
V festival - purely due to strength of line up that year - Radiohead, Editors, Bloc Party, Cooper Temple Clause, MuteMath, Mew. (How is that a V lineup?!)
The Great Escape - caught the final day this year, heavily electro and absolutely superb array of bands - Trust, Thomas Azier, Kan Wakan
Adding NorthSide festival in a couple of days - Queens of the Stoneage, Arcade Fire, Royal Blood, The Pixies, Mew - in Denmark. Glorious.

I have been going to music festivals since my first one on my 17th birthday in 1985. If all the components come together (mainly dry weather to be honest) nothing beats it; I really cannot think of many better ways to spend a few days.

V festival - purely due to strength of line up that year - Radiohead, Editors, Bloc Party, Cooper Temple Clause, MuteMath, Mew. (How is that a V lineup?!)

Beck, Morrissey, Weller, Dandy Warhols, James Dean Bradfield, Girls Aloud!!, Fatboy Slim, Phoenix, Regina Spektor, My Morning Jacket (did they cancel though??), Art Brut and a very young Paolo Nutini.

The weather was pretty good as I remember. Around that time V was still very corparate but the booking was much much better.

The girlfirend went the year before in '05 and saw Sonic Youth!
