I am told that by my married friends that, while occasionally there may be things worth falling out with your wife over, mushy peas isn't one of them. Get the peas out.

Being a fan of the mushed pea, and a lover of the marrowfat, I am inclined to say 'get over it'.

An unusual tradition, perhaps, but your trump card is that you can remind the trouble and strife of this great sacrifice at a later date.
