Was my first aid trainer incorrect when stating that it is physically impossible to actually swallow your own tongue?

Playing snooker
Glenn: "Urrghh. What happened...?"
Doctor: "You were knocked unconscious Mr Murray. Nothing to worry about."
Glenn: "Knocked unconscious? How did that happen?"
Doctor: "You were playing football."
Glenn: "Was I? How did we do?"
Doctor: "You'll be pleased to hear Brighton won away. Beram Kayal scored the winner."
Glenn: "NURSE!!"

I think that when knocked out your tongue can block your airway which gives the impression of it being swallowed. This is why you are always taught to keep the airway clear.

No, he is a wally. All you have to do is take a REALLY big bite, snap off your tongue, take it out just to see what it looks like outside your mouth, then stick it in a bun and save on the extortionate prices that Barber charges.

I felt quite emotional when I saw him spark out and when I saw the picture of him in hospital, it surprised me how much love I felt for the man.
