Murray Gets His Move

Unsettled Albion striker Glenn Murray has joined League Two pacesetters Notts County on loan until January, with a view to a permanent move.

Since signing for the Seagulls in January 2008, Murray, 25, has found it difficult to settle on the South Coast, and after being plagued by injuries last season, handed in a second transfer request this summer. Should the move to County become permanent, Albion will be looking to recoup most if not all of the £300,000 transfer fee paid to Rochdale, although it is understood that a fee has not yet been finalised.

Notts County, have recently been taken over by the Dubai-based investment group Munto Finance, and have installed former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson as Director of Football, whilst Ian McParland has continued there as first team coach.

Murray travelled on the team coach this week bound for the Albion’s League One match with Huddersfield, but disembarked in Nottingham where he was met by McParland and Eriksson for discussions on a move. Following Albion’s disastrous 7-1 defeat at the Galpharm Stadium, Murray was picked up again by the team coach on the way back in the early hours of Wednesday morning, having agreed in principal on a move to Meadow Lane.

Albion first team coach Dean White was disappointed but philosophical about the move. “Glenn is a quality striker who would be an asset in any team, but unfortunately for a number of reasons it’s just not worked out for him here” he said. “Notts County are getting a very good player who will score goals for them, and we wish him the best of luck”.

Glenn Murray was ordered not to comment, but his partner Deb was “right pleased” with the move. “Eeeeh, I’ve been itching to gerrup north again so I have, ant I our Glenn ? Ant I ? ITCHING. And alright, Northampton aint’ north-north is it, burrits got north in the name, like, ant it ? And that’s good enough for us int’ it our Glenn. Int it ?”. It was explained at this point that Murray would be signing for Notts County, in Nottingham, and not Northampton. “Well as long as they’ve got pies, gravy and a good sized Morrisons we won’t care, will we our Glenn, eh ? EH ?” she remarked, before elbowing our Glenn in the ribs and breaking into a prolonged, coarse cackle.

Murray was asked how he felt he would get on at his new club. “I’ll answer that” interrupted Deb. “That Sven, ee’s a right charmer. A charmer so ee is. A gent. Tha’ll not ‘ave a word against im, these Danes know ow t’ treat a woman proper, don’t they our Glenn ? Don’t they ? And between you and thee, I’ll tickle is’ ferret any time he likes, like. Nowarrmean ? Eeeh, come on our Glenn, I’ve got me Corrie on”.
