because bowditch was rubbish at least cox created a couple of chances what did bowditch do?

Both as bad as each other, Ive not seen two wingers produce nothing between them before.

Why does Cox take all the free Kicks as well even when it would be better for a left footer to take them?

agreed..didn't realise richards had a good free kick in him surely he should take more of the set pieces. i am a dean cox fan but some days his set pieces are so bad it would be better to let someone else have a go

The thing with Cox is that although he is not playing that well he is usually still worth one or two chances a game. Today he didn't provide that, and consequently looked awful. He's not a shadow of the player that first broke into the team at the moment. :(

As for Murray, yes, he should have scored his chances, in the last three games we have had enough chances to win ten! That we've only scored three, and one of them a penalty, is slightly worrying when you consider that, on paper, we have a fantastic strike pair. But the other problem is that we rely on them too much - if the strikers don't score than it would've been Hammnd or Cox, one is gone and the other is out of sorts. None of the other midfielders look like scoring too often - even the ones who have often played up front - and there's no 5 goal defender in the backline either.

Murray gets into a position to give himself the chance to miss. Those sort of players are frustrating but he'll get us a goal every other game. 20 a season and you'll be happy so get off his back.

Fraser was the only one in midfield that turned up.

I've seen some TOILET strikers in my time watching the Albion, but Murray certainly isn't one of them. Yes he had a bad day in front of goal today, but time and again he is getting himself into these positions, and its only a matter of time before he converts a few more of these chances. I'd far rather we see him in those posiotions to miss than for him to be so shit as to be anonymous (and we've had plenty of strikers like that, who go hiding after missing a few).

That fella was born to score. He'll get 20 for us next season, minimum. And you can go LARGE on that.

Plus he NEVER goes hiding. He worked his arse off today, and still put himself in the positions to score even though he was having something of a 'mare with his finishing. That shows character as well as ability. He looks a GREAT signing.

And if he'd been taken off, then the most relieved people in the ground would have been the Orient centrebacks, who were being run RAGGED by murrays timing and movement all afternoon. How many times did he leave them for dead ?

No the finishing wasn't there today, but taking him off would have been a travesty as he caused them no end of problems all afternoon.

Richards has a class free kick on him.

O well, too late now!

Feeling lazy tonight!!
I agree with all these points.

He did ok, but he doesn't have a left foot to finish with. He won almost every header and did a nice little turn to turn his man in the first half. Hopefully if he can work on his left foot, then we'll definitely have a out and out striker.

I am just amazed by the complete lack of patience by some of our fans at the moment ffs, he has done very well since getting here and he gets stick? - ok so he didn't score, but he did well to try to create these chances in the first place.

The first time he got through and tried to round the keeper, one of their defenders got back really quickly and was on the line, so Murray had very little to aim at, the second similar attempt he was too close to the touch line to shoot and was looking to our supporting players to play them in, Had he just shot as US seems to think, I bet he would be complaining that "Murray shouldn't have shot from there as the angle was too tight, or that he should have looked to pass to someone in a better position than be greedy"

Also - I couldn't believe some in todays crowd who started complaining after just 9 minutes when we had the ball, and were passing it along the backline to try to work an opening, telling our players they are shit doesn't seem to be the best way to encourage the team on to win, or infact in any way any kind of support i am aware of. their is a complete lack of patience, we have 90 mins to score, and you do win a game 1 - 0, yet they don't seem happy unless we play Kamikase football, over committing players going forward, resulting in getting beat by counter attack goals (like we nearly did todayfrom our set piece) - at least those in attendance at the Oldham game tried to encourage the team on to play better, rather than just moan

Would you like a Scott, Peter and K Elliott love train?

Also if it was Gatting that had missed those chances would he be getting "well at least he was in right position" as a reason for missing?

Well said Easy 10, to talk about him being woefull because he didnt score yesterday is ridiculous. At least once he had rounded the keeper and realised the shot was not on for him, he looked up and set it up for someone else (Cox I think it was for the example I am thinking of). Great team player, really pleased to see him in the stripes.

He was no worse than Bowditch, but he hasn't got a thread on here.

Its his 6th game not 5th. He has to accept the brickbats as well as the plaudits I have heaped on him since he came here. He shows potential but yesterday he was PANTS simple as.

what do you want for £300,000,be fair!

3 Bobby Zamoras please :lolol:

Thought Murray was okay yesterday, but I was getting a bit frustrated with him not shooting. Chap behind me made laugh when we got the penalty, he said "For fucks sake don't let Murray take it, he'll try and dribble it round the 'keeper"
