Thought he was poor today, which is surprising, as he has been vastly improved recently, freed from Forster (a controversial view, but I think all the hoo-hah round Forster was dragging Murray down), but he didn't seem particularly interested to me today. Not a reason to give him a slating, which I am not, but certainly not his best game.

I agree. Completely incomparable to the player that I saw just 4 days ago at The Stains.

Littlehampton,Wick actually
Murray ran his socks off today, looking for the ball over the top,or the 60 yard pass, very rarely came,is it coz players are not allowed to pass balls longer than 10 yards that he aint getting the service, all i know is he was playing some good football before the woking game,it seems to me,that GP and his "way" has but Murray back a step,my opinion.

Looked good, played well then subbed ?

Was he injured or is this the beginning of the end of his playing days here ?

There is something going on in my view we are not party to and he is easily our best forward.

Since when does a player getting subbed mean he is going or likely to be going??? Why do people jump to such stupid conclusions so easily?

Have you thought that maybe he was taken off to save him for our upcoming league fixtures?

Murray

Murray is a good player but his confidence if fragile. He is the type of player who needs an arm round him, not public criticism from Poyet.
His agent approached the Albion to extend his contract at the begining of the season but was refused. Poyet wants him to prove he is a 20+ goal a season man before he will commit. Thats ok but if he does score 20+ goals there will be plenty of other takers come the end of his contract and it is a dangerous game. Personally I think Poyet believe he can do better for the money as he is on a hefty salary. Ultimatley, it is his choice! I hope he is right!

Didn't think Murray was that good today - looked out of sorts and should have scored when he just needed to make a simple lob over the keeper.

But I'm increasingly worried he is becoming a bit of a fall guy. Barnes is much more guilty of missing chances, yet Poyet seems to always give him the benefit of the doubt. Once again, he missed an easy early chance which would undoubtedly have changed the course of the game and almost certainly the result.

If anyone should have been subbed at half-time today tho, it was Baz (who thankfully came off later), who was simply awful. If he looked so bad against a team from the Northern Premier League, how can he possibly cut it in League One?

Interesting if true.

So far Poyet's record with signing strikers is not that brilliant. He went after some ambitious targets in the summer, I doubt Murray is on a big enough wage to get the sort of player he was supposedly after though?
So far he's signed Holroyd, Barnes, and Wood.

Murray and Barnes are more like "support players" these days. I know all you armchair statisticians will say that Barnes is our top scorer but when did he last score and how many chances has he failed to put away?

IMHO, we need a striker who is the right side of the ball going forward, is facing goal and can put away chances to a higher ratio than 1 in about fvcking 50.

I think we need to start with Murray for a few games and keep Barnes to bring on late in the game. I think that then we would get the best out of him again.

Murray and one of the big lads will be a dynamite combo. So many times this season he's created chances & there's been no one there to knock it in. A much as i rate Barnes a few games on the bench he might rediscover his mojo

He last scored v Exeter (02/11/10).
According to espnsoccernet, he has had a total of 45 shots (before yesterday's game, haven't updated my stats yet), which works out at 2.14 shots per appearance (sub and start)
Works out at one goal every 6.43 shots (for perspective, wayne rooney scored about one in 5 shots as of the week or two before the world cup, according to sky sports news)

What game were you watching?? - He was crap!
The same game as everyone but you, apparantly.

Well, I wouldn't say "everyone"...

He did`nt play that well first half from what i saw but surprised he was subbed, can only think he s refusing to sign new contract and gus isnt happy with him??

I didn't think he had one of he's better games, but still better than Barnes but yet again Murray makes way for the golden one.
Something going on as why would he be 2nd choice to Barnes.

Murray had a poor first half but I think it might have been predetermined he'd make way in the second half. I'd rather have him fit and firing for Colchester and Hudds.

Thought he was poor today, which is surprising, as he has been vastly improved recently, freed from Forster (a controversial view, but I think all the hoo-hah round Forster was dragging Murray down), but he didn't seem particularly interested to me today. And I'd add that I thought he had a very off game today, missed a good chance when he tried lobbing the keeper and scuffed it, then later was in a good position and swung his foot at air, he kept getting outmuscled and fell over a lot and not in his typical "trying to win a free-kick" way, and give the selection choices of gus in recent weeks when I saw Sandaza getting ready to come on I knew Murray was coming off.

Nice stats there, sir. Its nice to see someone not utterly slagging off Barnes

He was our best striker in the first half. We needed to play more long balls against that lot. He had them beaten in the air and we would have won comfortably. Wrong tactics.

At the risk of sounding like a reverse Hitman, I think Murray would have got a hatful 2nd half yesterday.

Some people are rating Sadaza higher than Murray.
