Glen has been good this season, he upped his game and put the effort in BUT....a season ago I thought he was the biggest waste of money we had ever parted with, in my Honest opinion I think we can and will do bettert than signing Murray, Messrs Bloom and Poyet know what they are doing and I am sure there is a reason they wont up the money like they have smeone else in mind and know Muzza cant cut the mustard

Is it that we have been out priced or is it that our management team don't value him as much as yours? I have no doubt that if Poyet really wanted him he would be willing to match reasonable offers from other clubs. The fact Southampton, Millwall et al are not willing to pay as much as you would suggest you are paying over the top

Well you've offered him a deal to become your best paid player so I'd assume they still want him? I respect that GP and TB don't want to break their wage structure, but I'm struggling to think of many decent strikers you can bring in for a respectable wage who'll do a good job. Plenty of you talk about signing Will Hoskins for around 500k that is almost on average 10k a week before you've paid his wages and he was cack at Championship level.

I wouldn't suggest Southampton and Millwall are out of the running as of yet. At the same time though, Southampton have an abundance of strikers and Millwall have Morison and McQuoid whereas we need a striker asap.

I can't believe people are still kidding themselves about Murray. He's a middle aged striker who can't take penalties and is massively injury-prone. Murray going will be a blessing in diguise. Poyet will have someone younger, better and faster lined up.

Got a couple of mates who are lifelong Rochdale fans - one works for the cloub - they both said Murray's attitude stank at times and would put on the mother of all sulks if he didn't get his way. One of them used the phrase 'prima donna'. Guess we have had a small taste of that in the two seasons prior to this one.
Gus has built success as a team ... we need team players.
A final thought: Murray would only have scored single figures in goals this season if it wasn;t for the assists from Barnes and Bennett ... will he get such service at Palarse? I doubt it.

I think it's more of the fact that we wouldn't give him what he wants then that we couldn't give him what he wants.

It's a loss but Poyet and Bloom will find someone better.

If Gus doesn't seem too bothered, I'm not so sure it has to do with him thinking that Glenn doesn't have the talent. Look at the way we recruit players now - watching how they train, assessing their personality and attitude; in other words a complete assessment of them as a person and player. As a stab in the dark, maybe Glenn doesn't fit all these criteria quite as well as Gus would have liked?

At the end of the day it's a team game, as we showed by storming the league with a supposedly inferior group of player to, say, SCC. If one person threatens the team as a whole, whether it is through their attitude or by demanding much higher wages than everyone else, maybe it's for the best if they move on.

I think that's a bit harsh. He's a decent League 1 striker in a very good team. He may well be a decent Championship striker in a very good team. But he wont find that out if he goes to Palace.

If he goes, he goes. We'll get someone else. It's not like it was with Zamora when we new he was irreplaceable.

If he goes to anyone else but Palace I'll applaud him when he plays against us at the Amex. If he goes to Palace, I'll boo him. But I don't think he'll get serious abuse, I cant see him taking over from Mr McGleish as our favourite pantomime villain.

I think it shows who Gus values and who he doesn't by how he negotiates the contracts, he collared Elliot Bennett and Adam El Abd to long deals but was happy for Muzza's contract to run out.
If he really felt Muzza was an integral part of the group then he would have been signed up ages ago.

certainly, and he left murray out of the team on a few occaisons earlier on in the season.

all i can sing is:

HE'S BALD
HE'S OLD
HIS CLUBS ABOUT TO FOLD.

Does not explain the season he reached double figures when we were crap and neither of those two played for us...

And maybe, just maybe, they got good assists BECAUSE Glenn was on the end to finish the moves off...

Anyone who thinks Poyet's job in building a squad for next season is anything but MUCH harder if Murray goes is an idiot.

Clearly they would still like him here or they would not have offered a deal but they clearly do not rate him as much as your management team and therefore offered him what they felt appropriate. The fact is you are paying more than anyone else offered and admit you need (desperate?) for a striker would suggest you are paying him over the odds and who knows what will happen with relations at your club when he walks in as highest paid player straight from league 1

You are assuming there IS a wage structure. Tony Bloom is a hugely successful gambler. The holy grail of gambling is obtaining value. I very much doubt that Tony would have a set in stone position on salaries. He and Gus (or either of) clearly feel that they would not be getting value at in excess of ten grand per week. That does not mean that another player may well offer value at that kind of figure.
