Talksport

How rumours spread....(updated)

After the game at Watford, CH is interviewed ( starts at 23.50 ) All he says on GM was...
"we felt [Glenn Murray] would be fit for this game but that wasn't to be"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05cfhnr

In the post match phone in the quote on Glenn from Johnny Cantor was
"that fan there was saying 6 weeks, Adrian [Sussex reporter] was hearing rumours of "2 months, we hope that isn't the case" (from about 13.10)

Harms had tweeted earlier that "Hear all sorts of rumours outside grounds most are nonsense hope the 'Glenn Murray out for 2 months' is in that category" confirming he hadn't been told it by a club source.
https://twitter.com/AdrianHarms/stat...41269314068480

"the fan" was caller Duncan who said (8.50)
"i've heard he's out for 6 weeks , which is a bit of a blow"

The first indication of a lengthy delay on NSC 6 week / "2 month" rumour i assume comes from (who refused to stand it up)
https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/showth...=1#post8089691

I'm guessing he presumably was repeating this tweet which came at the same time. This feller says "speaking to his brother in laws best mate on the train " !
"Out for 6 weeks. Ankle scan on Tuesday" (Don't you estimate the time out after the scan ?)
https://twitter.com/benny151/status/901423694031065088

Naylor confirmed he had wind of it before team line ups were announced tweeting
"suspect that double ankle knock will keep him out"
https://twitter.com/AndyNaylorArgus/...26563106918400

It then carried on over the weekend with several posters saying they'd seen him out and about walking fine , on the beach and also via vids and pix
https://www.instagram.com/stacey1murray/

Hughton confirmed post Watford again that they didn't as yet know the full extent of the injury
"“We don’t know yet. He went over on his ankle in the last game (Leicester). We felt he would be fine for this one but he is a little bit sore, a little bit swollen. We’ll find out in the next couple of days.”"

Then Another thread started on NSC - this one - causing much wailing and gnashing about 1 fit striker until Xmas because Leroy Rosenior had said he was "out for 3 months" in the Totally Football podcast .
https://audioboom.com/posts/6246510...-are-annihilated-at-anfield-and-mbappe-to-psg
(38 minutes).

This was then compounded by Livetransfernew on Twitter repeating the "3 month quote" (without a source) only to be rebutted by Murray.
They've apologised this morning.

That must be a hard way of receiving tough news. Very unprofessional of the club

Get well soon Murray. Can't wait to have you back.

Maybe they were waiting until he was appearing on live tv before they'd let him know

Given that the club has been quite evasive with reporters about it this week, I would guess that he is out for a while, but they are doing everything they can to stop that being known (and, therefore, everyone realising we're basically worse off upfront than we were when Billy Paynter was a regular, Cardiff asking for £70 million for KZ etc etc)

Exactly my take on it.

Have seen Glenn twice in the last week and on both occasions he's looked entirely fit and healthy.
Whilst I didn't speak to him, it's pretty hard to imagine him having been carrying a relatively serious ankle injury.

See. Told you.

This might be the game but they've not been that evasive and haven't exactly avoiding it being known.
Hughton just given another update (the third!! since last Saturday) to the Argus . "“Minor injury...It is expected he will be out for a matter of weeks.”

PS: And Presumably Glenn himself is in on it with his Twitter escapades

Here
Well whichever way you look at it, this, combined with our current situation regarding incomings, is looking like we have a problem Houston.
