Murray and his contract

It just seems odd to me that we have a key player heading towards the end of his contract, with no talk of a new deal, and equally no talk of either the management or the player being unhappy with each other. Seems odd, I can't quite get my head around that one.

That's not right though is it. There has been plenty of talk by Gus in the press about this exact issue. Check back through the Argus for references. There has been no talk in the public domain about the specifics or the timing of discussions - but that's the way it should be. This is the new Brighton - where everything is not done through the media for some flimsy bargaining advantage.

Gus has been clear about his position re Glenn. So my assumption is that it is in hand. We'll hear when it is sorted.

But with the best of intentions it would be great to see Glenda holding on to his contract on the pitch tonight and with every break in play reaching for a pencil and reading glasses to scroll through the small print. THIS WILL SHOW ALL DOUBTERS THAT MATTERS ARE IN HAND.

Let's think about this rationally.

Brighton will no want to offer a player a significant increase in wages unless they were coming into a larger amount of money. e.g. certain of promotion.

Murray/any professional footballer will not be looking to sign a contract for a club who are looking likely of getting promoted for the same or similar wages.

Murray wants a payrise due to us getting promoted and it is in his interest to make sure we do, I'm certain the club and Murray are of an understanding that until they are sure of what division we will be playing next year his wages can't be increased.

That's not to mention a payscale and clauses needed incase we come straight back down again.
