Some good news at last as a new deal been signed.
Something to look forward to on Christmas day.

Mrs Brown's Boys boss signs new deal to keep the BBC sitcom's Christmas specials on air until at least 2026

The show's creator Brendan O'Carroll confirmed that he's signed a new deal to ensure the popular BBC sitcom will continue to make its Christmas specials for seven more years.

He added that the new contract guarantees that every festive edition he creates will be given a coveted slot of 10pm every Christmas Day.

Boasting of his sitcom's success, Irish comic Brendan, 65, told the Irish Sun: 'We've been doing it for nine years already – which is six more than The Royle Family had and more than Morecambe and Wise.

'This new deal we signed last week goes all the way to 2026, which means I will be able to grow into the part, and we've a clause in which guarantees Mrs Brown is aired at 10pm on Christmas night, or else we don't have to make it.'

He added of the deal: 'I wanted that because if it’s not good enough for Christmas Day, then we shouldn’t be making it.'

Last year's Mrs Brown's Boys drew an audience of 4.63 million, making it the seventh most watched programme of the day.

This year's festive edition is called 'Orange is the New Mammy' and will see the foul-mouthed matriarch navigate life in the coronavirus pandemic.

No surprise, it's a massively popular part of Christmas Day for millions of families. This will cement it as probably the biggest and best Xmas Day show in history ahead of Fools and Horses.

I think it just shows how the standards have dropped.
Never in the same league as only fools and horses.

One should never confuse quantity with quality.

Fortunately we're not allowed to gather together for Christmas now, so the one or two idiots in the family who actually think it's funny won't be able to hog the TV so the rest of the family is stuck with it too. At last, something good about coronavirus!

Trouble is all the bl00dy episode at Christmas are the same theme - How they save Christmas get together/panto/lunch etc etc Maybe they should be a quick rewrite and film the "Mrs Browns lockdown Christmas" where she sits alone with grandad watching TV all day. 2 Minutes long should be enough.

think it was mildly amusing for a few episodes, but quickly ran out of steam and certainly out of anything to make it funny
