Mullery was used the 2nd time around t get Barry Lloyd stared in pro football after being Worthing manager. His unfortunate downfall as our manager, think it was first time memory does things as you get older, was the passing away of his staunchest ally Harry Bloom in the coach on his way home from a game, but what a way to go, coming home from an Albion game.

Mullers should have been guest of honour for tomorrow's game. He is an Albion legend and hope to see home on the Legends wall very soon. Leon Knight not fit too lace Mullers boots.

To be fair on Lloydy his non-league record with Worthing was excellent. He was brought in to find non-league talent, as clearly given our finances, that was where we had to be looking. I'm not sure Lloyd's appointment was purely to get him started in pro football.

Absolutely love Alan Mullery though, most successful manager in the club's history.

Both Mullery and Charlie Webb should be on the legends wall. How Leon Knight got there is a mystery. I'd like Gotsmanov there as well even though his stay was short, he really was quality that made a difference.

It's not that Muller's was a decent manger it was everything about the era,Bamber,25,000 gates, going down for an evening match and seeing the lush Goldstone pitch with the floodlights towering over the ground the fact that we kicked-off at 7-45 different to everybody else (but that Brighton for you) and then of course the style we played, pass n move, fast or slow, winger's. Just glad i saw much of it for we will never see it again.

Not the real one
Catlin could have been better than Mullers if the cash was there. Then Mullers wasn't given any money in 86 either. Funny then that Bazza got about 4-500k in the '87 summer. Bought in about 12 new players. Some crackers as well. Nelson, Rougvie, Curbishley, Bremner, Dublin, Wood, to name a few. Good signings.

I was there as a lad. Games under lights with up to 33,000 swaying and shoving on the giant Chicken Run and North Stand.
Never forgotten.
