The guy cost us nothing. Already, he's going to be the most profitable deal in the Albion's history.

We're told unofficially that Sunderland's bid was £2.5 million- that strikes me as what Kirstie & Phil would call a "cheeky" offer, that they would never expect to be accepted in a million years. It goes without saying that we would be automatically looking for a fair bit more than that, simply because they've made a stupid bid first up.

I'd say in the current climate, bearing in mind Poyet is going to be desperate anyway, but also taking into consideration Bridcutt is a (less valuable) defensive player rather than an attacking one, that if we get somewhere in the £3.5 million to £4 million range, we'll be doing alright. Great player, but if we manage to get £5 million for someone like him, off a team of relegation candidates like them, I'd be amazed (and delighted).

I suspect what you mean is that his style of play is not conducive to scoring lots of goals. But as for winning games, well we won quite a few last year, and the year before, and the year before that when we won the championship with Bridcutt as the main man in front of our back 4. Not conceding goals helps win games too!

Agree that Ince could potentially go further than Bridcutt though.

Yep, that's kind of what I meant! I've seen some top players at the Albion over the years - Ulloa being the most recent. I wouldn't say Liam is one of them. Good, but not one of the best. £3m? Yes please

I feel that many on here are incorrectly basing the value partly on what they've witnessed this season.

I'm a strong believer in the old adage ... 'Form is temporary, class is permanent'.

Bridcutt is class.

His form this year is not up to his normal high standards, but Gus is no fool.
Gus knows Bridcutt inside out.
He will know the right buttons to push to get the best out of Liam, and if he does join Sunderland I can fully see him helping them escape relegation and quickly becoming a fans favourite up there.

If we let him go for anything less than £4.5m to £5.0m, I think history might end up revealing that Gus bought himself one of the bargains of the season.

Surely you can't have forgotten the wholesale combined reaction by many on here to his acceptance of a Scottish Cap?
The general view seemed to be that Liam was nuts, and if he had just been a bit patient he would have got an England cap eventually.

Liam bridcutt is completely over rated.
He's great at what he does, but what he does isn't great. A very very limited player.
His style of play is simply not conducive to winning football matches, unless he's playing with a gazza-like attacking midfielder. He isn't at brighton, and he won't be at Sunderland.
I wouldn't pay more than £750k for him, but I'd imagine he'll go for a lot more. Maybe 2.5.
Rohan ince is a far more exciting prospect, as he can attack too.

he plays a specialist role which in the 2 previous seasons he was very good at. his job is to break down opposition attacks and give the ball to our flair players whose job it is to go and score. bridcutt does this really well, and is the best at it in this division. barry, lucas, carrick, makelele, batty all examples of great holding players that were integral to their teams being succesful. you are ignorant if you don't think he is worthy of anything less than 3 million.
