It would be the honourable thing for Soubry to do and stand in a by-election now, especially as she has washed her hands of the manifesto she stood on to be elected. Soubry isnt honourable though.

But that is your preference and view, it isn’t necessary, she is the elected MP. She is voted in, we don’t vote a party in. You know I am right

They may be all Remainers - are They? I haven't checked, but probably - but my point is that this is not the only thing that unites them, in fact not the main thing. Both lots of resigners are reacting against the fact that their parties have become more extreme and have moved to the left or to the right, when they have more or less stayed put in political terms.
I accept your point, but I think you'll find that the common factor is that they are all dis-satisfied with their parties' stance on Brexit - neither Tories or Labour are coming out and saying 'No' to Brexit (although both are trying like hell to fudge it!) And yes, they are all staunch remainers.

Is that your prediction or your hope? You may be predicting right, but I hope you're wrong.

Anyway, if it is your hope then that's sad.

I just read your other post that doesn't 'recognise' the racism (especially towards Jews) in labour. Well, plenty of people do recognise it and countless incidents are record. As is Corbyn's total lack of interest. He opposes 'all racism', don'cha know. Just because your group of labour chums (nice people I am sure) never say anything against Israel or Jews doesn't make your impression meaningful. I have had conversations with labour people close to me who, given enough time and provocation, end up fulminating about the Jews, how they stole Palestine, how Israel is an illegal occupation, how Jews stick together and run global finance.....you are a good paster and a kindly soul, but you need to wake up and smell the rotten stench of old labour. Support for Corbyn as his shitness becomes smellier will just drive people into the arms of mother Theresa. You don't want that, surely? I don't.

I have no knowledge of the workings of the Labour Party, I'm not a member and never have been, I have never attended a labour party meeting of any kind and I think I only know two " Chums " who regularly vote Labour and they are not members or attend meetings either etc etc. ergo anti Semitism does not come up in conversation at all. I don't even know if any of my friends or colleagues are Jewish, they may be but their religion /race is of no concern to me All I know is that the media say some people say they have been targeted and other parts of the media say it's being stamped out.

With respect, remember I have lived in Worthing all my life and I have never seen or heard of anything anti-jewish with my own eyes and ears.

Perhaps the newly enboldened racists including anti semites, of the left and right, are mainly in larger metropolitan areas? The angry folk I’ve encountered with animosity towards minorities, believers in Jewish conspiracies, from the left and right heralded from London and Brighton. A lot of nastiness out there.

I'm sorry - I seem to have been under the misapprehension that you were a member. Apologies. As for the rest....until fairly recently Faversham had one black guy. I think there are three now. Portslade was similarly a monoculture when I grew up. Elsewhere.....I have been about a bit since I left school in 1976.... there are definitely pockets of ingrained attitudes in left and right wing thinkers, a burning hatred of those who 'subjugated' Palestine among some of the left (Livingstone, Galloway and Corbyn being examples), and an almost paranoid obsession with genetic and cultural 'purity' among some on the right. Not all, and not even a majority I suspect. But enough to be a canker, particularly now, in labour, where those who dress up their antisemitism as a noble pursuit of Palestinian liberation hold absolute sway in the party. Hence some of the recent labour defections.

Anyway, we both deplore racism so we certainly have that in common.
