It is about spreading the message, surely (not about governing what you eat)?

Why is it a ridiculous idea that our over consumption of meat is bad for the environment?

Subsidised meals? Veggies? Can you nto go for one meal without meat? We are talking about a Monday lunch. You can gorge yourself in bacon in the morning and have a beef stew in the evening if you can't cope.

Why should we be told what to do by a politician.

Just imposing what they want on society

You are not being told what to do at all. Your ability to have an in-house sausage, on a Monday, has been withdrawn. You are free to find your sausage on the streets of Brighton.

It is not about imposing anything on society. It is about spreading a message. We are talking about it. Sooner or later, someone on the anti side will ask the question why it would be good to cut down on meat as opposed to civil liberties.

Well for a start, she has earned her position to spread a political message.

I don't see it as being just a political message. It is a message for the good. Why a smoke-free wednesday? Why do the AITC promote a healthier lifestyle? Why does anyone bother with a message that would have positive effects?

What is that good about having a meat free day ?

Will people live longer, will they feel better - that is their choice if they want to do it not if some third rate politician imposes it.

It is not about imposing a meat free diet, bloody hell. It is about educating people. It is good for you and good for the environment to eat less meat. It is not hard to understand.

There are so many benefits of cutting down on eating meat. Both healthwise and environmental. I really don't see the big deal.

Third rate politician? We've had quite a few of those running the country, so I am willing to give her a chance.

No, you are evidently one of the enlightened, but what if we dont want to be "educated" what then..........................freedom is slavery.

Age boundaries for drinking, cigarettes and porn is all about education. Illegal drugs and so on and so forth. All societies need education. Those that didn't failed. I.e. The Romans, Greeks and so on.

Proof of purchase in this thread. Those that are anti the choice of a meat-free Monday clearly don't want to be educated. None of them have considered why the meat-free day has been put in place.

But given any council canteen is subsidised why should they discriminate ?
Can someone who works in Brighton & Hove City Council premises enlighten me? Is there any City Council building where food is sold to council workers? On a Monday, or any other day of the week? If so, where?

`If you vote in a member of the `Lettuce` Party you must expect them to be involved in these sorts of subjects, no doubt they are already working on us becoming a Vegan town.
