Moving to Worthing Area

So, where is good? We've looked at a few properties to buy and the gf has taken a shine to a property just off Stone Lane/Littlehampton Road and one on Terringes Avenue near where it meets Ringmer Road.

What are these areas like?

Depends on budget. If that house is Stone Close, the area is ok but pretty ugly down there recently I think. Both areas are OK just not the most attractive houses and a bit dated in areas

Terringes Avenue is OK, looked at a couple of houses there a few years back when we were moving. The 'bottom' end of Terringes Avenue (nearer The Boulevard) is nicer than the 'top' end imo.

We've been in 3 houses in the 9 months since we returned to Worthing...

1. Franklin Road, Salvington.

2. Highfield Road (near Thomas-a-Becket)

3. Findon Valley

Highfield Road is in the sort of area you're talking about. I wouldn't be that keen on Stone Lane/Littlehampton Road - the latter being very busy, obviously, whilst the former is still quite busy and not particularly attractive.

Highfield Road isn't a million miles away from Terringes. The East End of Terringes is good for pubs - The G&D and The Vine and not too far to walk to West Worthing Station for trains.

Having lived in Worthing before, if I returned it would be have to be in the Broadwater anywhere north of Worthing station.

yeah this is the end nearer the boulevard, just near the roundabout.

There's a semi-detached house for sale with Bacon & Co down Westland Ave which is a stones throw from Tarring Village in West Worthing. Also very good school catchment area if that's relevant to you with decent pubs within walking distance.

I lived in St Andrews Road for five years before moving last Sept just five mins round the corner. Ely is just behind St Andrews and certainly worth a look. Walking distance to West Worthing train station; short walk over bridge to Goring shops; still in good school catchment areas (Thomas a Becket and Elm Grove); local park near-by; five min walk to Tarring Village; and bus stops down the end of the road. One negative you might have (depending on what end of Ely you are) is the very small industrial park over the road.
