Moving to Brighton, from Eastbourne

Both good choices, I would be happy to live in both areas if I moved back to Brighton.

Patcham would be my choice, I went to school there and my son plays football for Patcham, so I'm over there most weekends.
Near the A23 / A27 and countryside not too far away for walks.
I think someone has mentioned about the bus from the pub to the Amex.

Westdene & Withdean both really nice (but quiet ) areas, with easy access to A23.
Patcham is ok.

Have you considered the Goldstone area of Hove? 3-5 mins off the A23, close to the Dyke, Hove Park, The Copse.

And definitely not be able to park. Oh and have students for neighbours in Hanover.

Sorry to hear that, student houses have ruined many parts of Brighton.
The Coombe Road area where I grew up is full of student houses.

Hassocks, Keymer, Hurstpierpoint.Good places to live 15 mins from Brighton. V close to A23. 400k you`ll easily get three bed house in nice area.

Good selection of places.I lived in Brighton for 25 years until I moved to Eastbourne. I have worked for the last 15 years on night shifts in Brighton and connot understand why anybody would want to move there. I now hate the place and only go there to the Amex to see the seagulls

Lol no way a studio, sold my home plus investments, so budget is £430k max.

Mackie avenue area looks nice as I drove around before, estate agents where trying to sell me coldean/Hollingbury what looks a it council to me.
Westdene/withdean looks nice have a friend move there as well, who's happy. Just don't want to mess up and move again,Too costly

With that budget you will be very hard pressed in finding a property in Westdean/Withdean. House prices start at about £500,000. Patcham is better value.

Grew up in Woodingdean. Moved to Preston Park for 7 years then sold up and moved to Patcham a year ago.
Bought near the Long man pub. Came to the area for the schools. Eldest is 5 and goes to Patcham infants. Very good school. Area is full of kids and in the right school catchment. Youngest who will be 2 in the summer, goes to the wishing tree nursery which is very good.
Long man pub is good for Sunday roasts, kid friendly and runs a free match day bus service to and from the ground. Always showing the sports or has something on.
Westdene or Patcham were our choices much like yourself. I really liked Westdene but, personally, thought it may be a little quiet as only one pub at the withdean stadium and I liked the community feel of Patcham. Also Westdene and Patcham schools are highly desirable and hence full. Depending on the age of the kids I would look into that first.
I was a bit wary of moving here at first but the place has grown on me. Good for commuter links onto the A23/27. The mums from the school meet up and get to know each other which helps with childcare and gets the wife out. Local corner shops and takeaways dotted over the place. And many back roads into Brighton which help avoid that busy London road.

Very much my plan, but currently in Telscombe Cliffs (by the Tye) and love it. Great for transport, nicest neighbours I've ever had (albiet a tad elderly!) but would like to move to East Saltdean if the right property came available.

One thing I don't like in Saltdean, I notice they closed the old folks home on the Vale and seemed to have made it a home for vagrants. Massively brought the area down IMO,

Don't happen to live on Gorham Way do you? i lived there for about 10 years!

Family friendly, close to a23 for my/wife commuting, 3 min bed house freehold, some where family can go for walks. Not in hussle and bussle, my wife never lived any where else but Eastbourne

Sounds like Mid-Sussex would be a fit for you, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Haywards Heath etc. more reasonably priced than Brighton. Unless of course your keen to live in the city

Yeah is a nice house, thanks for heads up Tom, don't see much on market at moe, not sure about Carden avenue the road looks busy for kids. Uncle SAMs is so much better then big chain burger places

Yes it is on a main road so that is a factor with kids. On the plus side the gardens are a decent size. My uncle lives about 5 doors along from that one.

For last 15 years have done night security work covering a large part of the city.I know this is just my openion and there will be lots who will not agree with me but I feel that the place has gone downhill a lot and I do not feel that safe if I am having the odd night out.

Yes this is a good shout you would get a nice 4 bed in burgess hill for £400 - 425,000

It's disappointing you think it's become less safe, particularly given that you're in a good position to judge. Presumably that's the centre of Brighton though, not the whole city? Stoneham Park is quite nice isn't it?

. Brighton has always been a bit dodgy. That's what makes it so appealing. You'd think many would not want to live in the twin towns as its a bit dirty, seedy and in places quite run down. But that's not the case is it

saltdean or woodingdean close to Falmer road, the only problem is getting home of an evening as coast road, falmer road and road into woodingdean are a nightmare with traffic

Yeah me and misses like Patcham and Westdene we've made it are prime location now for sure, Thanks il ask u if need info on patcham.
For southwick might as well go back to shoreham, the cricketers pub in the square was my main pub back in the days!

If you think Brighton dodgy, you should pay a visit to Brighton Dungeon on regency square ( it's a interesting place)
