Another shout out for WSU. I’ve been there since day 1 and it’s definitely got a high percentage of old school types. The view is great and the exercise makes you appreciate your pint even more!

WSU vote from me. Although saying that, I had tickets in E1D for a match, I thought I would hate it but the view was great (glad it didn't rain though). I was disappointed with the NS, it was not the best game to watch in all fairness but there were a lot of 'non-singers' where we were & it's hard to work out which song to sing.

Out of interest, is there a guarantee from the club of getting a move once your kids outgrow the family stand? Like others, I am also approaching this phase of my life. Wouldn't want to be in a situation (albeit many years away yet) where the kids are too old for the EL, but there's a waiting list and no option to move.

As my son is now 18 we need to migrate to another area. We had great seats in back row but my son hated it in last couple of years due to lack of passion and people leaving early!

He obviously wants to go in North but not sure the thought of standing up all game appeals (although do that at away games!). Don’t really like being behind goal either.

Any other places to recommend or avoid?

There's always an option to move out of the family stand when the kids turn 18. The family stand moves (the ones due to age) are the first moves done and are given priority over all the other moves. Every year people move away, die or choose not to renew so there are always seats becoming available elsewhere in the stadium. The only trouble is you might not get much choice where you move to especially if you need more than 2 seats together as it all about what is available elsewhere.

Didn’t fancy the family stand, on reflection probably selfishness on my part but my 7 year old is joining me in the north from day 1 .

Don’t know how that will work out but confident it will be ok as he’s a fan of speaking loudly and shouting already.

His enthusiasm has increased since the club set him a home shirt for his 7 birthday, nice touch!

The kids hear everything the north stand sing/shout anyway so it's not saving them from hearing any words they shouldn't as they hear them anyway. Know a few families in the North and their kids seem perfectly normal and well adjusted so somehow managed to survive the atmosphere of the NS. Only real benefit to family stand is the price of the tickets.

I was schooled in the Goldstone NS from age 11 and turned out fine you bunch of ****ing girlie twats ooh ooh ooh!

Yet another WSU vote here. Been there since day1, in block G about 7 rows from the back. As others have mentioned it seems to be populated by a lot of old school Goldstone north standers who have grown up. It's not a 90 minute sing song, but when it goes, it goes LOUD. Love it up there, and am dreading the day when I can't make it up the stairs and have to move.

Wanted to try a different part of the ground for the West Brom cup tie a few years ago - the perfect time to do so, obvs - and went in the North for the first time.

This absolute **** in front of me started muttering things under his breath towards me and nudging his equally as ****ish mate suggesting "haven't seen them before" "c***s" etc, without comprehending that perhaps a season-ticket holder maybe trying out a new part of the ground.

This nugget barely watched the game, making snide quips for the whole 90 minutes.

I'd love to see him again.

Hmmm it's a difficult call, but l would say that the shelf in the North West corner just trumps it. Mind you on the east side you get that view of the magnificent west stand in all it's glory.

My one and only incursion in to the North Stand happened a good few years ago now, for a match against Barnsley in the ill-fated Sami Hyypia era, about the closest we got to a goal all night, was an Ashley Barnes thunderbolt that whistled past the post, and almost took my neighbour's head off!

Never again.

I am right at the back of WSU H Block next to the camera. Pretty decent little crowd of familiar regulars with a reasonable number happy to have a sing song. Have managed to strike an accord with most of the stewards who let us stand as there is no one behind us.

That being said I have still managed to attract a few odd looks for choice language which baffles me (no C bombs and eff will only come out if necessary).

I do proper miss the place at the moment can't believe it's been over a year...
