Mourinho gets let off by the FA.

Absolute joke. If that happened at any other place of employment the shit would hit the fan.

It certainly wouldn't be if she was a bloke or not attractive.

He discarded a doctor from the bench for doing her job. She should not answer to him.

If it had been a male doctor the same would apply. He is a football manager, not some kind of powerful dictator, and he should be treated as such. Him getting away with this shows an utter lack of respect to the medical profession, and grants him licence to behave in the obnoxious, arrogant and self-important way that he seems to believe he is entitled to behave in.

People like him need to be challenged and sanctioned every time they cross the line that he undoubtedly did.

I thought it was her crossing the line that caused the issue in the first place?

(Agree with most of what you say BTW x)

Can she not go to an employment tribunal pleading constructive dismal.

Under normal circumstances she would not qualify if she had been employed by Chelsea for less than two years. However there are certain criteria which overule the two year limitation. One of them being sexual discrimination, but just because she was female it couldn't be proved it was a case of sexual discrimination. However another exception is if the dismissal related to health and safety by which she would definitely qualify for constructive dismissal. Go for it Eva!

Are you implying that Mourinho was in the right and that the doctor has no case to bring forward? Also, when has this happened before (to a male doctor) and nothing happened that makes you conclude that this is all due to the doctor's gender?

Regardless, it may be the case that the media are paying more attention as she's an attractive woman but if hat what it takes for this sort of case to be get the right amount of attention and dealt with properly then that's a positive thing.

in any other employment you wouldnt have a third party to involve, you'd go straight to tribunal. so lets see what happens there. the FA looked at discriminatory comments, as he said the same of Carneiro and Fearn, difficult to see a case of discrimination.

I'm not implying anything; I'm explicitly saying that this would not have even made the local news if there hadn't been an attractive woman involved.

It's all about Eva versus Jose, and no-one in the media is mentioning her colleague - the male physio - who received the same treatment and criticism from Jose as Carneiro.

Has Jon Fearns sex life been plastered over the tabloids? No. Has he been a long running subject of sexist abuse at games? No.

So no, it it didn't make the news in Fearn's case. Not because he's not an attractive woman, and not because he wasn't also treated appallingly, but because in his case it got quietly sorted.

In Carneiro's case, she was pulled apart in sections of the media despite being the wounded party. It's news because she's a woman, sure. But it's also because she's one of the very few high profile women in the game and she's been treated disgracefully to the point where she's lost her job.

John Fearn was subject to the same outburst and public criticisms by Mourinho, and subsequently treated in exactly the same way by Chelsea FC as Eva Carneiro: they were both dropped from the match day medical team for the next game.

You're right; Fearn has been able to keep his head down and sort this one quietly, but that is the media's fault and not Chelsea's. If they hadn't highlighted the case and made such a big story out of it, I'm sure Carneiro would have sorted it quietly in the same way as Fearn. And, let's be honest, the only reason that the media have highlighted this case and dragged the story on like this - not to mention it having got so much attention by regular fans like us - is because Carneiro is an attractive woman.

A football manager losing his temper at his match day staff (or officials) is hardly a new thing, is it? The fact that so much has been made of this will have put back any initiative to get more woman working in football by years. Clubs are going to think twice about employing a female member on the match day staff for fear of media and public White Knighting that might happen if they're criticised. Again, this is all the media's fault.
