Put it in your diary. Because, if i remember rightly, if you have no MOT you also have no insurance. (As it's invalid) punish:

Has to be a wind up, driving around with no MOT nulls and voids your insurance in an accident and the fine when you ARE picked up by an ANPR camera is up to £1000

I call bullshit

Yes, I know, don't shop me please.... :(

No-one ever writes to tell you when MOT is due, so easy to let it slip. I don't think the cameras can possibly be plugged into the MOT system.

Any decent MOT garage will send a reminder the year after the last MOT. This may have changed with GDPR where you will have to opt in to receiving a reminder.

I also got chased stopped by a police car that was sitting beside a roundabout this year because they said I didn’t have an MOT. I had got it the previous afternoon. Most of the camera vans you see on the roads these days have ANPR cameras to spot drivers without tax or insurance. I imagine the gantry cameras on the motorways also cover this

You have been a VERY lucky bunny not to have fallen fouls of the above

I don't use a decent garage. I use a cheap one :p

Not many motorways near Cornwall. Regardless, I've been on them enough that I should have got one if what you say is right. I even resolved a speeding fine whilst my MOT wasn't valid, so it seems they don't cross-check. I also know LOADS of people who get an MOT to stretch two tax years, so one would imagine if this was more prevalent then they wouldn't do this.

Those guys always tell me that an MOT only proves a car is roadworthy that particular day. A car has to be roadworthy at all times, if it isn't roadworthy at the time of an accident then the insurance wouldn't pay up anyway.

I don't know, never had an accident. Sods law says I will have one today now, luckily not so many cars on the road at the moment.

They certainly are in Sussex!

Got caught just over a year ago on the M23 by a patrol car - fortunately tax and insurance were up to date - fixed penalty and no points :)
