Bags and hands. You can easily fit a weeks worth of shopping in a rucksack, I have been doing it my whole life. Transporting to the venerable is a decent point though. Though it seems like the government should have put something in place for it.

Then I can only assume you live on your own, and survive largely on dry Ryvita crackers and After Eights, whilst wiping your arse on packets of wetwipes.

I on the other hand have 3 adults in the household, and there's no way I would choose to yomp my way on a 6-7 mile round trip to Tesco to cart a weekly shop back through a zombie apocalypse, when I can just do the trip ISOLATED in my motor, and not spend half the day doing it.

Garages are allowed to remain open under the new restrictions. MOTs have been suspended for lorries, buses and trailers for up to three months, and MOT testing for cars, motorcycles and light vans is under review.

You missed the announcement from the government yesterday about everyone's exposure to others should be reduced to an absolute minimum clearly. And yet here you are, suggesting that I take all three of my children and my partner to the supermarket and expose all five of us to the risk rather than just drive myself and only expose myself to the risk and also lessen the number of people in the supermarket by four ( thus lowering the risk to other shoppers ) ? Brains of Britain you are not !

I don;t know you or your familiy's circumstances at all. But it seems that it might be possible for the family to walk to the supermarket, one person goes in and does the shopping, and all help to carry it back, as part of the 'it's OK to go out and take exercise' routine?
Clearly for some this is not sensible, for others, it might be.
Brains of Britain-type comments are just unwarranted and unhelpful generally, and particularly at the moment.

Getting back to the original question, I suspect that common sense will prevail, and those who need to get MOTs, repairs and / or servicing carried out will have a way, real soon.

Transport Secretary Grant Schapps says vehicle owners will be granted a 6 month exemption from testing enabling them to continue to travel to work when "This is absolutely cannot be done from home".

MOTs extended for six months
There's some good news for drivers in the UK. Drivers are to receive a six-month extension to annual tests of a car's roadworthiness.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps says MOTs due for renewal from 30 March will be extended for half a year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Mr Shapps said on Twitter that drivers must still keep their cars safe and that garages would remain open for any repairs.

Have to say, that's bloody good news. We have both cars due an MOT in the next 6 weeks - this will allow us to stagger them a bit better. I beginning to rather like this government.

Has to be a wind up, driving around with no MOT nulls and voids your insurance in an accident and the fine when you ARE picked up by an ANPR camera is up to £1000

I call bullshit

I once took my car for an MOT having not used it for a while and got a letter from the DVLA fining me £500 as I had been spotted on Mill Road Worthing by a camera (en route to Swift Motors). You are permitted to drive your car without an MOT to an MOT station as long as you have a booking.

Fortunately the car passed it’s MOT and I sent a copy of the MOT and an explanation. They let me off with a warning, wankers
