I remember The Manics saying that they judge their lack of relevance by when they get offered Guildfest. They said it has happened twice and both times it forced them to go away and have a rethink.

I saw Motorhead at the Dome last November. Saxon were on also and let me tell you Motrohead absolutely blew Saxon out of the water. Men against Boys. It was a highly professional, polished show and so loud your ears bled but the noize was not distorted. They displayed great muscianship as well and Lemmy is an absolute legend.

That's weird, seeing as the Manics are about as relevant to decent festivals as marriage guidance counselling is to Darren Day.

Saw Motorhead at some Dutch festival a couple of years back, they were reet good from what I can recall. As they were at the Dome last year apparently.

I was there as well. Great show.

We too attended said event. Have to say, US, I thought Saxon were superb too, will be going to see them on St Georges day at the Forum. Shame Danko Jones was a little up his own arse early on, he is class too. As for the 'Head, very rarely do you get a bad show from them, and looking forward to their November show in Portsmouth, they are not returning to the Dome sadly. Lemmy keeps on trying to write a good song, so many remember Ace of Spades, Bomber, Overkill, but they have recorded a number or great albums since then, Rock and Roll, 1916, Motorizer, We Are Motorhead, all worth a listen if you hanker after the glorious sound of Motorhead.

As for the rockabilliy stuff, is't OK, but a little cheesy, his early band was the Rocking Vickers, back in the early 70s, shite really, Current Rockabilly band is Head Cat, don't get too excited, think you can check them out on Myspace.

As for Guilfest, this is at least the 2nd time they will have done it, for me, dont really like festivals, but might give Beautifal Days a go, Hawkwind, almost certainly with Lemmy as guest, and Gong, now that will be mellow!

Saxon didn't do it for me mate. Average musicians and an average catelogue of songs. 747 was the highlight as I knew it would be.

The guitarist and drum player with Motorhead where top of their game and Lemmy , well , the bloke ALWAYS delivers.

Its easier to get to for me - about a 5 minute walk as it happens! I agree about the lineup not being the same though, there is usually something worth listening to though.

Motorhead on the bill.
5 minutes walk away.

Well that's the price of a ticket saved.

Ace of Spades is legendary but Iron Fist is widely acknowledged by critics (and me) as the best Motorhead track.
