:lolol:Is there any mundane question you can ask on NSC that doesn't end up in a binfest? Just wanted to know if there was any motorcycle parking, I didn't ask about Free motorcycle parking. I guess no-one know yet by the looks of things.

Hey Fifth,

When I bought my season ticket I asked about motorbike parking at the stadium as I live in Portsmouth it is far the quickest way for me to get there.

I was told at the time that there will be no specific parking for motorbikes at the Stadium and they would need to be parked in with the park and ride scheme and catch the bus in.

That being said there are always places you can stash the bike (as I am sure you know), its just a matter of how many bikers are going to be parking up at the stadium I guess.

Personally I will be catching the train to the first few home games as meeting mates for beers, so I intend to scout out the situation and then make a decision on future games.

And as for why bikes should park for free, I will tell you all exactly why. My motorcycle has been hit in car parks (whilst stationary and parked in plain sight in a normal "car" parking bay) on 4 separate occasions by car drivers who apparently "didn't see" the bike parked there. Also we are constantly pulled out on, cut up and generally not seen on British roads. Because of that, by way of compensation, all motorbike parking should be free.

When I went to presentation at the Amex, which seems a long time ago now, my brother asked me to put the question about parking motor bikes at the stadium. I was given a positive answer, i.e. yes, provision would be made for parking motorbikes at the Amex.

Thanks Snook & MissT,

Still nothing definitive from the club and I await their response via email! As you rightly said Snook there are always places you can put a motorbike that a car won't go or be particularly noticed but I'd rather stick it in a dedicated motorbike bay somewhere.

The club travel FAQ says that M/C parking will be made available in Bennets Field and/or by the Coaches.
Did anyone ride a motorbike to the ground on matchday yet, and what was the experience like? (Stewards knowledgable? Anything to secure the bike to, etc.)

Here & there
My son is going to be riding his bike to some evening games straight from work. We asked last saturday & was told that there will be m/c parking by the coach park. On another note do you reckon he will be allowed to take his crash helmet into the stadium with him? He's got no where to lock to on his bike.

Motorbike Parking

I rode to the Amex on Saturday and was directed to the Coach Park. Stewards helpful but a bit cocky - "I've decided to let bikes park in my coach park but if too many turn up and take the p##s then they can f off somewhere else" - nice!!!!!
Was disappointed that no thought had been given to motorbike parking during the design phase - there's no secure provision and no ground anchors.
I emailed the club about lockers for storing gear such as helmets but there aren't any. I locked mine on the bike, which was fine as it was dry, but come the wet season then its going to be an issue.
Having said all that - it was free to park the bike, so happy days
I know this has wound up a few of our car driving brethren, but you always have the choice of getting a bike :p

Brilliant. Thanks. All we needed to know.
A shame that no thought was given to motorbikes, but I guess there was a lot of other "things" to think about so I'm not going to stress over it.
Free parking is great, but I'd be happy to pay a small fee for secure parking. How the club could administer it might be a problem though.
I, and I imagine many, won't want to pay an annual/season fee to attend 2 or three matches where tickets might be available.

To the previous respondent re. disabled parking fees. I'm sorry you have to pay for parking. I personally think the club have got this one wrong, and hope that the policy changes.

I wonder how many bikes parking up by the coaches will be too many?

As for the helmet... chain it to the bike and then tape/tie a carrier bag over it.

So we can park bikes at the Amex as long as too many dont turn up? Will give it a try at the next game then as coming with my gf to that one and is quite expensive on the train from Portsmouth.

Aim for the coach park and hope for the best seems to be the plan.

As for helmets etc, best plan is to chain them to your bike in a carrier bag I agree. For the rest of the season I have a white VFR 09 plate with a top box that holds two helmets and generally come on my own, so if you spot me and wanna put your helmet in my top box feel free (my god that sounds a lot ruder than it should).

Also have panniers for waterproofs etc which will have space.

What a game Yesterday. Cannot wait for some more AMEX madness.

Sit with a guy who rides a bike. He was parked in Bennet's Field towards the railway line side. Got from Hove to the ground and parked in 13 minutes. As I sat in the queue to get out of the car park on my P&R bus, saw him ride past and hear he was home in around 15 minutes. Doesn't seem to be an issue and is a smart form of transport I would have thought.

Me and my boy both parked our bike in Bennetts fields down the bottom as directed in the prevoisus game, but will park in the coach park on Tuesday, as i'm there early before the turnstiles open so hopefully won't be one of the "too many"
