Been asking this for a while. No one at the club knows.
I'm planning to just park it with the bicycles.

Why should motorbikes have any different arrangement for parking over cars?

Agreed. Apparantly they never have to pay for parking anywhere, that just doesn't make sense?

Because there are comparatively fewer of them than cars, and they can ride around/over any barrier sufficient to stop a car, historically, it has not been cost effective to charge for M/C parking.
This is changing now, with Westminister leading the charge to extract ever more cash from motorists wallets by introducing charging for M/C parking, and other boroughs and cities following suit.

This, I think is a mistake. Motorcycles take a fifth of the road space, typically use half the petrol, and over their lifetime have circa a 10th of the carbon footprint of a car. Perhaps they should be encouraged rather than discouraged.

As stated above plus the fact that you can fit in alot of bikes into ONE car space.

Car drivers are taught to give bikes plenty of space, so they certainly take up more than a fifth of the roadspace, unless they ride recklessly and squeeze into gaps by overtaking and dipping into the space the car driver is leaving between hm and the car in front. As for MPG, many many bikes run at lower than 30MPG, and some far lower, and emissions aren't all that great, especially those with the 'trick' exhausts. Granted, smaller bikes use less fuel, and have lower emissions, but all in all, if it is percieved that the motorbike takes up less space, then charge them less, not nothing.

Yeah quite right too ... as a Blue Badge Holder who would have to "pay" to park my Car at Falmer I'm more than happy to struggle to the ground via some other method just to see some motorcyclist roll up, step off and stroll in ....
