I'm not disagreeing.

According to the IFS report on the budget middle income earners have borne the brunt of the £47 billion of tax rises hidden in last week's budget

havent read of this from IFS, but there is a report of the OBR saying this amount of tax increases. its largely on corporation and dividend tax changes and pensions contributions for earners over 150k. not really middle income earners.

I'm not sure that's the case. What large UK companies will now do is switch to share buybacks rather than dividends.

The pensions contributions change is only supposed to bring in the same amount as the cost of the IHT changes.

Middle earners will be disproportionately hit by changes to child benefits and Insurance Premium Tax rises.

Bit of a stupid argument because you could equally argue that without the workers then the rich wouldn't get rich! Employers/entrepreneurs need employees just as much as the other way around.

I don`t see it as stupid argument surely it is a fact..But yes I also agree that it takes allsorts, but we are talking about Benefits and the right or wrongness of giving more money to woman who selfishly (both for the children themselves and the taxpaying public) decided to have eight children.

The recent experience of France suggests otherwise.........

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/10390571/france-hollande-taxes-socialist-farrage.html

Even worse news for the supporters of tax the rich till their pips squeak policy, is that it didn't bring in the money (see above), and has now been quietly dropped.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/31/france-drops-75percent-supertax

Even the most capitalist country in the world are finding out that capitalism is out trumping patriotism.........

You can close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears of course............

Very smugly put. However, I have also read much about how desirable the UK is for richer types from all over the world eg Kensington sur Thames, Chelski etc. I do not hear much about many actually leaving this country, only threats that have never happened, its a very nice place to be, social political aswell as economic. Where exactly are they going to be better off? All things, not just bank balances, considered? That's why we don't recognise the same country as 15years ago. Everyone wants to come here. Rich or poor.

Britain has always had immigrants, its part of our culture. I suspect some rich will leave, the vast majority will stay as you indicate. It has been a good way to raise some taxes and start to raise the funds to pay for all of the state commitments. Good news

My grandmother was one of 11 kids.

My maternal grandmother and grandfather were from families of 11 children too (Whitechapel and Glasgow docker families respectively) but I suspect that as with my grandparents there was a wage earner in your grandmother's house and that with school leaving age being 14 as the norm and very often younger, the price of rents and general necessities being relatively lower that there was as many children as people could afford.

Fair enough. Let's agree to disagree.

A multi-millionaire taking €300,000 from the taxpayer to make his weekend retreat more desirable for hunting and fishing parties is one thing. I'm not anti rich people, I'd quite like to be one myself.

When that person is the editor of the most popular newspaper in the country, and he regularly uses his editorial powers and privileges to demonise benefit claimants, it does seem paradoxical.

At least on NSC when people disagree they are given an option to reply and debate the issue.

In addition the paper he works for is owned by a tax avoiding non dom.

This is turning into the Four Yorkshiremen sketch :)

I see the point you are making, though do we know that the slant you are putting on it, is in fact a true portrayal of the situation ? Were they all with one loving hubby? Even when loving hubby was at home, did they perhaps stop and think that enough was enough, or just counted the dosh that yet another brought them, emboldened by the fact that they found it so easy to claim? I don't which slant is more accurate, but if I were a betting person, I know where, to quote Match of the Day pundits, I would put my mortgage.

Haven't read the whole thread but is there evidence that she spunks it all on fags and booze then?

Nor have i but the whole scenario work much better if we assume this to be the case. We should also assume that she has had these children purely to get more benefits and that she doesn't want to work (even though she says she would like to work)

I don't think you see as much British telly as most of us do, or you would see that when these " benefit street" type programmes come on, that is what they all say. It may be the case that she does want to work, but then she, like so many others I have seen, is hardly likely to say, that she can't be bothered to work, as benefits pay so well. Someone nasty may come along and cut them. I really don't think you can place any credence on that statement.

Any person who can cook proper meals, not buy take aways or meals for one to ding etc could easily fed and clothe that family on £2000 per month. Buy fresh meat and veg and use Primark or George at Asda problem solved.

My wife says she could do them a dinner for them for £5 per day just by buying fresh ingredients and cooking them

Are you saying she can feed nine people for a fiver a day? Or a fiver per head per day?

You think rich pay less???

If you earn £12500 you have NI + tax deductions of £912 proportion of earnings taken as deductions approx 7.5% if you earn £125000 you have deductions of £49000 deductions approx 39% you do seem not to understand but I assure you 39% is a larger proportion than 7.5%

Out of interest in your mind where is the starting point for becoming a "fat greedy shit " there might be several on NSC. I might be one although at nearly 6ft and 12.5 stone I don`t qualify on the normal meaning of fat.

This is fact not fiction like most of your posts.
