Following Crabtree's thread yesterday, check out one of the latest photo of Hurricane Frances.

To put its size in perspective, Florida, which is the finger of land coming out of America to the NW of Frances, is 54,000 sq miles in size compared with England (not wales or scotland) which is 50,000 sq miles in size.

seems to of grown in size but stretched out somewhat. GOD only knows what those people on the little islands just to the bottom right of the storm must've gone through

Gotta wonder what Florida is thinking at this moment seeing that huge ass monstrosity heading their way.

Dropped to a Category 3 Storm now:

The State of Florida in the United States is on high alert as Hurricane Frances threatens to cause chaos, hitting the area with extreme wind, heavy seas and torrential rain.

Frances currently has a central pressure of 954 hPa and is a Category three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. With maximum sustained wind speeds of nearly 120 m.p.h., the hurricane force winds (73 m.p.h.) extend some 80 miles from the eye. Storm surge flooding of up to 14 feet above normal tide levels can be expected for the worst affected areas.

The storm is currently moving at 9 m.p.h. and the track is expected to take it across the Bahamas today before heading towards Florida for the weekend.

The yanks have the money and the resources to deal with it whilst Castro will have far less options open to him should his beautiful country get hit.

We expect to get a bit of that in Charlotte early in the week. Although we are a 3 hour drive from the coast you still get a tidy old kick from a hurricane. Looks like it might bugger up a barbecue or 3.
The father in law lives down near Naples and he's already pissed off in the direction of Alabama.
