Oh yes. Used to go there when the village was a bit more rundown, and they had brilliant folk nights.

The Old Dungeon Ghyll in Langdale, Lake District. Though probably only in winter months, as it gets too crowded in the summer.
Right in the heart of the Lakes, Old Peculier by the bucketload and local bands singing round the fire.
Also a short walk from Raven Crag if you get rained off.
I haven’t been for ages, so hope it hasn’t changed.

Why?

On beach and close the cottage I used to stay in (also on the beach).
It's quite an amazing spot isn't it? Contrary to wide held belief, I found the locals there very friendly. We played on the Nefyn golf course which runs along the tops of the cliffs around the pub, that was an experience too.

With Wolves away coming up worth a mention for both the Bull and Bladder/Vine in Brierley Hill and the Beacon Hotel in Sedgley. Wonderful examples of old school locals brewing fantastic beer and keeping up old traditions. Places like these should be celebrated alongside traditional country pubs and appreciated for the gems they are.
