Now we're talking. Many trips, a good number of wins, including a Play-off game, and the reknowned hospitality of our friends from sarth London.

I didn't see the play off game so my most memorable game was in early September 1978.

A trip to Cold Blow Lane was not for the faint hearted. Sussex were also playing a Cup Final at Lords, so a fair number of fans took the easy option.

I went to the match with a car loads of mates. Our driver was one Des Chapman, back on hols whilst earning his fortune in Saudi. We decided not to go in the away end, never a safe place at 'wall, and we watched from the big stand along the side.

This was a fine Albion team but i think Wardy was out that day. he certainly wasn't one of our goalscores and maybank actually got 2!

Albion ran out 4-1 winners. The locals weren't happy. Everytime Albion scored we threw our hands up in mock anger and swore in frustration then 'grudingly' acknowledging "gpod goal, though".

There was only one way in and out of The Den, so late in the game we had moved around behind their goal. I think most of their boneheads had gone up the other end to congratulate the Albion fans. We saw our last goal here and, when the final whistle blew, headed quickly out of the ground.

When we reached the car, making sure we had an exit, we all let out a huge cheer of "Seagulls", jumped in & headed home.

I was dropped off outside my house and dashed in to see Sussex winning their game and hoards of Albion shirted fans running across Lords and "Sussex by the Sea" ringing out.

Classic day.

The Sussex v Somerset final gave me a good excuse to avoid the Den.
Fondly remember a stirring 3-2 defeat in 1966 when Alex Stepney made a great save from Charlie Livesey in the last minute.

Never been to the Den but the game at the Goldstone the following season was quite lively.

Millwank went 2-0 up only for BHA to win 3-2. iirc, the Millwamk fans were to the south of the tunnel...south west Terrace and went absolutely mental when BHA won

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
My first game in 1990 vs Millwall.

Sammy Nelson took our school football team along and we spent 90 minutes annoying fellow South Standers with terrible songs that included "2-4-6-8 Who do we appreciate?"

Can't remember much about the game itself, I was just delighted to be there. Previously I had been a Liverpool fan having watched them on TV and even had a Liverpool scarf, but that was soon replaced with a Brighton one and I never looked back.

But of course that was a home game at The Goldstone so ignore me :dunce:

I've only been to Millwall 3 times and we've won every time but I did particularly enjoy last season's league win.

The 1-0 with the Ferguson goal was my favourite. Millwall had equaled the record 51 games unbetaen at home until Fergie popped up to beat them. We were in the corner next to the home nutters and my abiding memory is them fighting amongst themselves in what resembled a piranha tank when some live food is chucked in, and then a copper's helmet 'emerging' in the air clanging against the stand roof! You had to walk down a narrow alley to get out and it was no fun!

I have some respect for the backs to the wall type 'Wall support though, and think we should reclaim the 'seagulls' chant in similar vein. One person starts chanting 'seeeeeaaaaaaa...' until enough of us join in to migrate to 'guuuullllssssss....'. It is a good way of getting the crowd involved when it is quiet and we need to lift the team. Views??

Yes, we had to be kept in for 15/20 minutes while Millwall fans fought the police trying to get into the away end. Also, when on the train at New Cross Gate some chavs got onto the tracks and started to pelt the train with stones, smashing a window in the carriage I was on.

The last JPT game was good as it made me a superfan over night and catapulted me to the front of the queue for cup tickets.

About time i set my mind to getting to the Boxing day game. have not arranged any transport yet. Somebody local offered me a lift (as he was getting off a bus) but i don't know how to contact him.

It was more like an hour than the 15/20 mins you stated ;and the police put riot shields against the windows as we passed through the stations between New Cross Gate and East Croydon. The bricks were flying everywhere and to cap it all 'the scum were waiting for us at Croydon!
