Blackburn I think, and the 9-0 Spurs victory earlier that season against Bristol Rovers was the game that gave them about an 8 goal better goal difference than us. We went 2-0 up quite quickly I think and I remember fleetingly thinking that we could win this by 8 and go above Spurs

Blackpool it was, with 33,431 inside The Goldstone. 0-0 at HT with Wardy and Nobby Horton giving us a 2-1 vistory. Marvellous scenes of mayhem in the North Stand until it was properly confirmed that Southampton and Spurs had stitched up us. Spent the evening in an alcoholic haze on the beach at Brighton.

Gillingham has to be Fans United 2

If this thread had been posted 3 weeks ago then the Chesterfield game would have been my most memorable but Swindon has to top that. As Safeway says, most people in the ground have never gone as mad as when Virgo headed THAT goal. I even nearly kissed Braders

Goldstone - Millwall Playoff SF 1st leg, coming from a goal down and scoring three goals in 5 minutes in 2nd half to win 4-1. I was in left side of North Stand (infiltrated by Millwall - didn't know where to look when we scored!!) & Hartlepool Utd 5-0 (FANS UNITED - absolutely amazing atmosphere in North Stand, never to be forgotten).

Priestfield - Not many memorable games, but will have to say the last one against Rochdale (I think!!). Couldn't really care cos I knew we were coming home!!!!

Withdean - Many marvelllous scenes over past few years at 'Fortress Withdean'. Mansfield (1st game back - 6-0 what a dream result), plus Chesterfield (DC scores with a bullet header to win Div 3 Championship) & most recent Swindon (Playoff SF 2nd leg - Adam Virgo's 120min agg. equaliser). There are others but to many to mention here.

Goldstone - very tough, far too many. 3-3 against Liverpool - my Dad left early in disgust and missed the fight back. Alan Mullery playing for the reserves - came on at half-time 1-0 down and bossed the game from midfield, we won 7-1 (I think) in front of thousands. 1-0 against Pompey in the FA Cup, superb atmosphere (whose idea was it to make it pay on the day?) and Fozzie bossing the game.

My vote goes to the Pompey game

Priestfield - Colchester, my (soon to be ex-) wife is a Col U fan which makes it even better in retrospect. Other than that the Palace friendly reminding us how far we had fallen.

Withdean - I'm not a regular at Withdean but I guess for me completely outclassing Barnet in the rain under lights
