Three different eras what were the games that stand out for you?

Goldstone - my first ever game watching the Albion. 30,000 plus crowd with not much segration. I vaguely knew there was a football club in Brighton and went along more because I wanted to see what all the fuss surrounding Malcolm Allison's Palace was about. 2-0 to the Albion and hooked after just one game.

Priestfield - The 4-4 draw against Colchester (New Year?) with a merry (drunk?) Paul Samrah or Attila exhorting the Albion over the tannoy during the game as we came back from 3-0 down.

Withdean - Swindon playoff semi final - Every emotion that I've ever felt at a football match all in 1 game .

Goldstone - last game against Doncaster
Priestfield - honestly can't remember one memorable match I saw there
Withdean - Swindon play-off semi followed closely by Watford last year (when Palace's goal went in against Stoke)

Goldstone - Liverpool 1-2 in the FA cup in 91 (?). Barnes, McMahon, Rush et al. We so nearly beat em.

Priestfield - tough one this, I've completely wiped all my visits there out of my memory but watching Gabbiadini tear us apart was quite a spectacle.

Withdean - Another toughie. Probably Bristol City at home last season when we lost 4-1. Weird i know but every moment of that game is etched into my brain.

is this just a general "Most meorable match" or a "Most memorable match I was at" thread............

Surely the most memorable match at the Goldstone has to be the Fulham cup tie (36,747 record attendance), rather than any draws against poxy teams like Borient (who are now demolisging Brisbane Road at this very moment).

Of games I was actually at...................................

Goldstone - has to be the Division 1 debut game v Arsenal in 1979 (strange to have a 4-0 defeat as your most memorable!) because it seemed so amazinge that we were playing a team that most of us had oly seen on the telly as equals........
Priestfield - Fans Utd 2 - the 0-0 v Donny seemed to sum up in one 90 minue peruiod verything about that dreadful time........the horror, the horror - but the fans were superb.
Withdean - Mansfield at home in 1999 (everrything was right about the day, playing in Brighton again, a 6-0 win, wonderful weather, life didn't seem to get much better..................................)

Safeway, insert Albion 4 - 4 Leyton Orient here...

GAH! Do I go on about it THAT much?

Anyway:

Goldstone: Errr, suppose it's got to be the 4-4 with Orient in 97.

Priestfield: Fans United 2 was quite a nice day, but the most memorable is probably a 3-0 home defeat to Barnet on Bonfire night, 1998. Memorable for all the wrong reasons, none more so than the fact it was the lowest ever crowd for an Albion game, 1,026.

Withdean: Probably the play-off with Swindon. Have NEVER gone as mental over a goal as with Virgo's. (The first ever game, 2-2 with Forest, was good as well because it meant so much to be back in Brighton).

Goldstone: either last game v Donny or a few season earlier when we came back from 3-1 down with 9 minutes to go against Bournemouth to draw 3-3 with Chapman scoring a free kick into the top left hand corner and then, i think it was chapman again, scoring header in dieing minutes. Rusty let in an absolute howler for their third, sailed straight over his head, for some reason i can remember that one well. The there was the York game, well 15 minutes of it, remember that well too.

Priestfield: 4-4 game, Paul Emblen hat trick or the Donny game for Fans United 2, unbeliebale display of shit football.

Withdean: got to be Swindon at home in play offs.

Goldstone: Far too many. Doncaster last match, The day Southampton/Spurs stitched us up in '78 (can't even recall who we played that day), Arsenal first game in Div 1, Liverpool in the cup, Beating West Ham 3-0 in the first 20 minutes in '89, but I think it must be......Boxing Day 1979. BHA 3 - Palarse 0 (Nobby Horton, Peter Ward, Gerry Ryan). Over 28,000 there.

Gillingham: Nope

Withdean: Albion 6 Mansfield 0. DC's header beating Cheaterfield to take the Championship & Swindon.

Goldstone, narrowed it down to three
As storer68 said, the game against Fulham, day after Boxing Day, 1958, which the Albion won 3-0 in front of the record Goldstone gate, 36,747.
Beating Watford 6-0 in April 1958 to gain our first promotion from the old Third Division South.
Beating Millwall 4-1 in the 1991 playoffs.
(You could also add beating Norwich 1-0 in the ’83 cup quarter final, beating Reading in April 1957 by a massive 8-3, and how about Fans United 1 against Hartlepool. Anyone who was there will never forget that.)
Gillingham,
only Fans United against Doncaster
and
Withdean
For me, has to be beating Cardiff 1-0 when a young lad called Adam Virgo had such a brilliant game, (record gate so far for Withdean). Beating Cheaterfield with the DC header came a close second. (I was in London for the Swindon second leg and watched most of it on the tele down the Haymarket).

Blackburn I think, and the 9-0 Spurs victory earlier that season against Bristol Rovers was the game that gave them about an 8 goal better goal difference than us. We went 2-0 up quite quickly I think and I remember fleetingly thinking that we could win this by 8 and go above Spurs

Goldstone - so many, soooo many. 4-4 with Orient, 4-1 over Millwall in the play-offs in '91, the Liverpool Cup game, beating Palace 2-0 after 14 games without a win, Doncaster in the last game, but the most memorable would probably be Fans Utd.

Priestfield - during a good spell we were having under Horton, I think we thrashed Brentford (who at the time had Hreidarsson and had spent a few bob) 4-1. The fact that I'm not sure of the score shows how little those games have stuck in the mind.

Withdean - Swindon is too recent, I don't know how long it'll stick compared to memories like the Chesterfield game, or the 6-0 over Mansfield in the first game back. I'll go for the Chesterfield 1-0. After so many years of shit, so many struggles, not being in Brighton, to win something, actually win a trophy (something I thought I'd go my whole life without seeing) against that lot aswell. That'll take some beating.

Best Goldstone memory was during the Ward/Mellor days.

1) V York City 0-0 at half time and we won 7-0

2) V Chester City won 6-0 and Ward and Mellor were on fire. Nothing could stop them.

Happy days
