Really?

He comes accross as a bit of a NOBBER in real life. I say that after watching his part on Rio's world cup wind up's back in 2006. He went to an art gallery, and was acting like billy-big-bollocks.

Set up The David James Foundation which funds charity projects in Malawi.

Supports the Malawian charity Friends of Mulanje Orphans

Funds the David James Foundation Scholarship at the University of Westminster, which funds a student from Malawi to study for a master's degree at Westminster

Is also a global ambassador to the Special Olympics

Works with Access Sport to provide sports provision in deprived areas of the UK

Writes a regular column for The Observer, and donates his article pay to charity.

Not a KNOBBER in my book, no.

Good point, well made.

I just didn't like the way he came accross that's all.

You forgot to mention that he had his expensive car converted to run on VEGEATABLE OIL (at a garage in Steyning) and also got all of his Pompey team mates to go 'green' for a week and share lifts/use public transport etc...

I used to know someone at university who went to school with David James (in Welwyn Garden City), and he was apparently quite popular back then.

Im surprised nobody has said David Beckham

For all the media baggage he always comes accros as a decent bloke who just wants to play football

Tis a good point to be sure, I like him, but there will be plenty who don't just because he is overly successful.

Bollocks to Paul Scholes, saying nothing of interest ever and quitting England hardly balances out years of getting away with nasty, late studs up tackles
