Love the long form, but yesterday was sport at it's most exhilarating. It's sort of unfair to compare a series which hasn't happened yet to one which has and was incredible at the end.

If you'd asked me before = ashes
Now = The ashes won't be as good as that

Maybe a better question is, what was better the 2019 world cup or the 2005 ashes win

Not really, Ashes means any series not just 2019, same with the World Cup.

A home World Cup, on free-to-air TV, won in that fashion, watched by millions (instead of the hundreds of thousands on Sky), inspiring a whole new generation. No competition.

Any other situation, the Ashes every day of the week.
