Most exciting time away from home

I never stop writing this. Don't know if it's the same for you readers, anyway.

Away @ Hull in the FA cup, mid to late 80's. 2 nil up & comfortable @ half time.
Then the most pressure I've ever seen the team come under. I can't imagine the corner count, for Hull, in the 2nd half, getting them too 2-2.
Eventually the pressure broke, with a break down the right, a cross comes in.
We all surged forward, I lost my footing & as I fell I was grabbed by the people near me & hauled up with such force, as Terry Connor leapt to head the ball home, I was above everybody else going mental.
I can still see the whole incident now, & for my memory that's quite something.

Oh & Liverpool away, from dead & buried, to singing You'll Never Walk Alone too the Kop in 45mins.

Not exciting but THE BEST EVER away game was Sunderland last season.

Plane up Friday night getting hammered in the hotel after several at Gatwick and courtesy of BA on the plane
Sat morning metro to Sunderland city centre and finding Idols,the best pre match pub in the world.
£1.50 a pint and topless dancers on the bar!!
Then getting more pissed at Newcastle airport bofore getting the plane back home.

Shame we're going down because we'll miss going again next season

has no one mentioned palace this year? that's one of my favourites, obviously. however, i have fond memories of my first away game at orient when we lost 3-1 (we took the lead through reinelt) and i went to the cup game the next year when we lost 4-2 (barker and mayo scored for us). the millennium stadium was obviously class, and my first actual "away win" (not counting mill stad) was at gillingham last year, so that was very enjoyable as well.

Apart from the obvious (Palace, West Ham, Leeds etc) I really enjoyed Shrewabury away in 99/00.

Was the end of the first season att Withdean and we were on a great run, although the playoffs had eluded us through a couple of draws, but everyone knew were were at the start of something special.

Think Ling scored and we won 2-1. They were in real shit at the time.

We took the place over in the sunshine and the optimism were unbridled - it's been a nutty six years really and looking back to that day is a nice way to relieve the furrowd brows and burning frustration that seem to follow games these days!

had been winding my mates up all season that we would clinch promotion that day so when we won in the week to give ourselves a chance i was delighted but didnt think we would cos hull had 2 beat hartlepool and rochdale had 2 lose.what a day that was never forget andy crosby turning to the away end arms aloft confirming we had actully done it we were going up

Millwall away in the playoffs , Them setting fire to there own ground and police uniforms wtf?

Oh yes, I remember that game, with the lovely approach from New Cross Station down Cold Blow Lane and the friendly welcome waiting for us by the entrance to the ground. I was glad that the grotty alleyway we had to walk down behind the Main Stand was for away fans only. It looked like they might catch up the 4-1 deficit when McGinlay scored - another scourge of the Albion, but then John Robinson scored an absolute screamer to win the game for us and I knew it was over then. I spent a very enjoyable 10 minutes ripping up the Argus Classified ready to hurl it up into the air at the final whistle. Then the Millwall fans set fire to the terraces - I think it was their 'halfwayliners' of whom Danny Baker was one. I wanted to ask him about it on 606, but I think he had packed up by then. Palace this season was probably my best, though The 2-1 at Reading and The 1-0 win at Peterbrough when Zamora scored were both superb

good shout... i went to mainly away matches that year and had a great time - Shrewsbury near the end of the season with inflatable seagulls and a big turnout at York also stick in the mind...

peterborough away, so cold, set fire to the stand to keep warm.
same season cheaterfiddle away, helped ourselves to freebies from the outdoor market, took their end and they tried to take it back. oh and a palace game when my brother had a sheet wrapped round him with 'i f***ing hate palace' on it. got a good reaction when he took it out and we showed our fans (we were in the holmesdale btw) oh happy days

Forest away a couple of seasons ago in this division. We lost, but the atmosphere and singing was second to none!!

That was a brilliant day , we too stayed in Newcastle and went to 'Idols' in the town centre. What a bar, my little mate was at the front trying to take photos of the scantilly clad lasses with his mobile, and 100 odd Sunderland fans cheering him on. Wicked weekend.
