Toothache is bad, because you can't get away from it. I would have to say the pain when I had bowel cancer 2 years ago was probably the worst, not constant but when it hit it was unbearable - I was rushed to A&E twice and put on morphine immediately.
It's funny though, the human body has a mechanism of forgetting pain quite quickly - you remember that it hurt, but you struggle to remember the actual pain. Apparently it's a defence around childbirth, as it's thought if women could remember the pain of childbirth, they wouldn't have another.

Cellulitis of the leg was pretty bad as I had a very active job and hobbled around on it for a week before I dragged myself to A&E. Thankfully I responded to the anti-biotics otherwise could have lost the leg. Don't buy cheap shitty shoes folks!

I had two undescended testicles that led to two operations as a 5 year old - old enough to understand the ramifications and feel the pain - that involved manually manipulating them down one at a time six months apart via a huge scrotal incision.
Worst part was the doctor was the parent of one of my school friends so everyone knew what happened....
Had to wear massive pants for a couple of weeks and had over 30 stitches to contend with. Painful and itchy as hell!

It can happen via any entry wound. I had it from a mossy bite. My other half gets it regularly and ends up on intravenous anti biotics in hospital as he is just prone to it. His first bout was from a stone in the road flicking up, when he was on his bike.

I sympathise with your husband - I endured a miserable week in hospital with all my veins being butchered with IVs - apparently i've got sunken veins and the nurses took turns stabbing me and missing/erupting my bloodways.

Without doubt the immediate post operative pain in recovery following lower abdominal surgery (cyto reduction therapy) for peritoneal cancer in 2013. Basically you're opened up from below the diaphragm and pinned out like being on a butcher's block while they pick out the tumours; the cavity is then flushed/washed with warm chemotherapy solution for 60mins after which you're meshed to prevent the inevitable hernia(s), sewn up and then the fun starts:
Coughed out the respiration tube ok and then there's just me and the consultant anaesthetist trying to set the epidural level whilst my entire nervous system's gone into a default total panic mode with all the operative pain. Excruciating experience with lots of swearing from both of us; seemed to last forever but, in hindsight, probably less than a minute. Felt a bit whimpish afterwards tbh.
Second, but someway back, is the pain from a gunshot (bullet) wound in my right shoulder when I was in my late teens.

Seriously? Sounds to me like a simple job of suing the arse off him for breach of confidentiality.
Yep but only because his son used to wait at his surgery after school sometimes and saw me in the waiting room. What with his dad being a specialist in that field it didn't take much to put two and two together, it's not like he told him specifically what I went there for.
