The Albanian generals moved in carefully and quietly some time ago. They have been taking over the street prostitution, the drugs, the petty nay serious crime scene. Now the foot soldiers are arriving.
I live in a large Thames Valley Town where all this is evident and has been for some time. The West Indian community used to control the drug scene. Now its Albanian. Same with prostitution. Young girls, drug dependent, offering their services for the price of a fix. Rampant crime levels. It is rough, tough, ugly mafioso. Lots of black economy work. No taxes/NI....no contribution. Accomodation provided. The unseen, unheard, undermining our society. Too late now. They are here in their thousands and will continue to come. There are rich pickings to be had.

Have people said that certain ethnicities are unwanted in the UK?

Or are you just confused about legitimate concerns about the difference between unsustainable levels of migration and racism?
One word, " Germany " .

And there we have it. A new UK net migration all time record of 504,000.

But we still can’t fill hundreds of thousands of important job vacancies.

This is where voting Brexit and Tory have got us to.
not about those crossing the channel, is there a deeper analysis to explain? are EU migrants now being counted, have applications from EU/non-EU changed?

Ukraine and Hong Kong humanitarian schemes plus international student numbers recovering after Covid seem to be the main reasons.

Don't worry we're joining the Russia club soon and be walking away from the ECHR. That will fix it
today in parliament there is a bill going through by our government to ignore ECHR law (i.e. illegal) to send refugees to Rwanda on the same day 3 people died in the channel.

Not in my name. Anyone else cool with this government breaking the law again? General Election Now

I am ashamed to be British today

The government didn't force people to get into dangerous boats and cross a dangerous stretch of sea in winter. Criminal gangs (not British) did that. In fact, the British govrnment time and time again has sent out the message, "Don't get into little boats and risk yours and your childrens' lives". Tragic as it is that these poor people have lost their lives, it wouldn't have happened if they'd listened - they decided - or were conned by criminal gangs into thinking - they knew better.

Well done to the British Navy and coastguard who rescued as as many of the people from the criminally inadequate boat as they possibly could. Te wicked British have saved far more lives in the Channel this year than lives have been lost. Should I feel sorry for those poor people? Yes, of course I should - and I do, absolutely. But ashamed - why? I didn't help or encourage them to risk ther lives, I didn't milk them of their life savings to go and die for my profit. Sorry? - yes I am - but guilty (which I'm not) or ashamed? - oh do f***in' do one!

You really have no understanding whatsoever of what you are waffling on about, do you :dunce:

Why do you think the channel crossings have increased so much ?

channel crossing numbers.jpg

And have a little look at this with Suella Braverman explaining how you SHOULD claim asylum rather than put yourself in the hands of people smugglers and get in a boat

And a little older, but still full of simple facts that you are obviously not aware of

"Unless we provide a safe route, we are complicit with the people smugglers"

There are no proper routes to claim asylum, and even the Ukrainian online method has closed. A lot of these people (over 80% are granted asylum) want to join relatives already here.
President Macron offered to have an asylum processing centre in France but Theresa May turned it down. This is why the boats have increased because there is no other way to get to British soil.

Mmm interesting - replace this with the tragedy of the children falling into a frozen lake and it isn’t the same message is it

Think how much worse it must be to be French. Remember that these people drowned because they wanted to get away from France.

Unless there is to be literally unlimited immigration, then safe routes wouldn't help. The majority of channel-crossers would be at the back of the queue for legal immigration so they would still want to try an illegal way.

They didn't want to get away from France - they wanted to get to the UK.

Everyone has the right to claim asylum. Not every asylum claim will be granted, obviously. The problem here is that you cannot claim asylum in the UK until you are in the UK, and there are no legal ways to get here for the vast majority of asylum-seekers. Hence they are forced into the hands of people traffickers. The simple solution is to put in place a system whereby asylum-seekers can apply before they get here (ie, what the French offered some time ago). Or, allow safe routes to the UK, whereupon an asylum-seeker could lodge their claim. As others have said, these deaths (and many others before) are being caused by the UK government's barbaric treatment of desperate people. Unfortunately they can get away with it because some in our society see asylum-seekers as a sort of "other" class of people who don't deserve to be treated like humans.

since we're going round the block again, feel need to point out we are the same as most other nations in this respect. where we differ is you cant roll up to the border post or hop across some fields, instead have to negotiate a large sea, which is causing deaths. so what we are seeking is that reception centre in France or free travel to Dover, with a policy of accepting all asylum seekers. otherwise all the slow or rejected cases will continue to seek other means.
