Was it possible to fax over the ticket request? That would ensure there was as little delay as possible when you send your request, after all the post is unreliable.

If it wasn't possible to fax over the letter, why not? Security issue? How many people actually paid with a debit or credit card number rather than a cheque? etc

If a STH misses out on the allocation for STHs, do they then 'fall through' to the AMS allocation for a second chance there? Or are not STHs not considered to be AMS also for the purposes of such ticket allocations?

That's a damn good question.

Why is it that only those who did not get a ticket consider the system to be unfair?

Why couldn't the club have said first week of selling tickets - sth only i'm sure they used to do this years ago?

I thought WH offered us a further 2000 seats but the club turned them down? Presumably because they had to be paid for up front?

Nope - the Police and WHU Safety Officer refused the request more a bigger allocation.

If it were say Millwall or Cardiff fans I could understand the refusal but we hardly have a troublesome following - clearly the police being pricks !

As doug deep pointed out, that is a very good question. IMHO the perecentage allowed for non STS AMS members is too high. Whenever I go to away games most of the people I see there are regulars and almost certainly (I'm guessing here) STH. How many non STH's went to Carlisle?

I think it is admirable that the club are trying to devise a system to suit as many people as possible but I do wonder whether the percentages are weighted unfairly in favour unaudited members of the AMS who do not go on a regular basis. If STH/AMS members were bumped in favour of AMS only supporters then that does seems unfair in my opinion.

Lets face it whatever the club did in this instance it would lead to vociferous complaints from those who missed out.

The frustrating thing for those regular fans who missed out is that the allocation was big enough to give everyone at withdean and those who have followed the club away a ticket. As it turns out there maybe people there for whom this is their first match, and I do think that is unacceptable.

If you look at our away support this season it ranges from 250 to 1100. Many of those supporters will be STH so we are maybe looking at just a few hundred non STH away fans, add them to the 4000 STH at withdean then you still get a figure that is less than the WHU allocation.

What we need is an audited AMS system to correctly the weight allocations in favour of those who regularly go.

Row Z, what you have just suggested points to a points system, and for me it makes total sense, you get priority because you have consistantly travelled, paid, and watch the Albion.

As you said, Carlisle away, lots of familiar faces, not "Super fans" just the type of fans who go all the time, sadly, i bet some of them didin't get a ticket.

It would be easy enough to administer, and they just appointed a new ticket office manager, so he should make it his task for next season.

And, if you go to West Ham, and we win, keep your stub, make sure that as soon as the next round tickets go on sale, send your application in there and then, not the next day, not the next evening into a bin at the ground, send it in the minute the tickets are announced.

I'm not rubbing anything in, but we have never not got tickets, my WHU application was typed out straight after the draw, and ready for the post within 30 mins of the club announcing the tickets.

My term for them is "admirers".....but seems to cause offence........On reflection I think the distinction between "supporters" and them is that they,re really "followers"......i.e....they "follow" the albion... on the tele, the newspapers, bits of gossip from they,re mates etc etc etc and of course, once every couple of years when there,s a big game (they don,t seem to have a problem then , getting time off work or affording it )....whereas a "supporter" actually goes regularly to see the albion play...i.e. they "support" them at the grounds, vocally, financially and in person, of course that includes all the games against all the less attractive teams in League One in the pouring rain etc etc..

I don't think its a straight-forward as that. I watched over 250 games at The Goldstone, and have seen the Albion away between 20 and 30 times. However, I haven't been to watch the Albion for a couple of years, simply because I prefer to play football on Saturday afternoons rather than watch it. I'm 25, I'm fairly decent, and I'd rather play the game while I'm still young, and worry about watching the Albion when I'm over the hill and past it. At the moment I'd rather just watch the odd game (Bournemouth on New Years Day for example) and the West Ham game was one of the "odd games" that I have applied for tickets for (unsuccessfully). I don't this makes me any less of a fan.

Ok, I haven't got a ticket and can't make it in any case. What i'm failing to understand is just why there needs to be a special priority for STHs. As I understand it, STHs can and should apply to become AMS members free of charge if they want to go to away games. Surely they could do so and then just simply sell tix on na first come first served basis to AMS. I really can't see why buying home tickets should give any priority to away games. If you want to go away, get registered as AMS, simple!

A lot of people, such as myself, joined AMS so we could get to see the Albion at all. In the early years at Withdean it was almost impossible for non STH to get tix because the place was always sold out. I know for a fact that many season ticket holders didn't go to all games and sometimes left seats empty. The people that did this effectively deprived many of us a chance of getting to home games, I'm afraid sTHs that couldn't get there arse into gear in time get little symathy from me. It's a game thousand more would like to got to, demand exceeeds supply so some people have to miss out. Tough. I recently wanted Genesis tickets, unfortunately they sold out almost instantly and I didn't get one, I've got all their albums too, why did I not get priority?

1 of my nieces went out with a Met Police Officer and he told her that when Brighton played in London leave was cancelled in order to be able to police the games because of the numbers that BHA bring. He was stationed at Chiswick so he may have just been talking about leave for West London not exactly sure.
