Not sure it's in anyone's interest to bail them out.
Well it isn't, but of course if this were true (and the source is Talksport, so probably not), then clubs will do what they always do, which is to look after their narrow short term interests

It is of interest if a team is suddenly able to get international standard players for cheaper than they're worth.

We reportedly bid £30m for Colwill which was firmly rejected. £40m with a full England cap and another season of top flight experience under his belt would be both a steal and work very well for Chelsea. I don't think someone like Liverpool would play the long game on a signing like that if it meant that Chelsea would be hit by a points deduction if another side didn't come in for Colwill (which they would).

Doesn't sound good for them. The heart bleeds.

So, from that excellent video, they HAVE to sell players before the end of June to be able to compensate for the losses they've racked up, and that will be complicated by the Euros.

That has to be the time to put in another bid, £25M? for Levi Colwill. They will be desperate, IF the Everton points deduction is upheld. If that happens, with their level of deliberate debt, they could get a 20 or 25 point deduction. They're currently 13 points above the drop zone (Everton).

The ‘source’ is actually a qualified lawyer experienced in financial regulation, speaking on Talksport.
Speaking or shouting?

If he was speaking it'll be the first and last time he appears.

But if he's had the good sense to shout 'chelsea might be docked a bazillion points', he'll have his own show by next week.

Do you insult El Pres in the same way when he's asked for a dull opinion ?

A quick glance of Chelsea contracts show the HGP players minus Gallagher are not up for years, why would any of these youngsters take a pay cut?

They will get £50 million for Gallagher, but no one is paying what they want for Broja

Not sure they'll even get that - think the market is going to see a big correction in the next window (and possibly explains why Tony is keeping his wallet shut in terms of 'PL ready' signings)

£50m plus add-ons I think they quoted Fulham and Wolverhampton? Then a straight £5m loan fee plus appearance related add-ons up to £8m until the end of the season.

Very much depends on how he does in this loan move but I think they'd be struggling to get more than £35m for him currently.

Think Levy was the same, Spurs desperately needed a CB, but seems are waiting for the summer when FFP bites for anything else.

Gallagher is out of contract in 25, so summer will be the last chance to sell him for a big fee

I don't believe they can give him a new contract with a pay raise either.

I think Broja could be a good player, he did well at Southampton and needs a run of games.

Maybe worth 20/25 million punt?
