I would imagine that Manchester United's shops generate enough revenue and profit to remove the need to shut them down.

Not if the club have it in mind to open a shop in Western Road/Churchill Square , we'll have to wait and see what the outcome is.
Yes and my point is we need to get back FURTHER. Why didn't Gus want to carry on? He was very happy here previously, and the relationship with Tony was very, very good. I refuse to believe he made a massive u turn on all of that for no reason whatsoever. It doesn't add up.

Queens Road has been the wrong location for the shop to be for the last couple of seasons. A shop in the square / Western road would have a significant increase in footfall and impulse / passing trade. Closing down the shop and scoping another one makes perfect sense.

I'm fairly sure he has a thick enough skin to cope however i do know what you mean. Do you think he's the "hate" figure because the season hasn't really started and they can't blame Barnes yet?
This -- I work round the corner to the Queens Road shop, and every time I go in it's virtually empty, with a few staff hanging around doing nothing. It would surprise me if takings came anywhere near covering rent, staff and other running costs.

The main thing about that is the rents and rates in Western Road / Churchill Square will be quite a bit higher than in Queens Road. The shop would have to be significantly larger / better than the current one to justify any new premises.
While I agree it's VITAL that the club has some presence in the city centre, I can see a scenario where the accountants / bean-counters tut-tutting, moaning about the expense without the proven or necessary income.

Quite a few clubs have gone into Administration following a move to a new ground, off the top of my head i can think of Millwall, Middlesborough, Coventry. (Southampton?)
If we were to allow overspending to occur and the club to lose serious amounts of money, we could end up following their example and ending up in admin ourselves (what would happen to Blooms investments in the club then?)
It would be interesting to find out all the other clubs that went into admin in a new ground, and to have facts and figures for other clubs following moves, and see if they all had similar financial issues and how long it took them to resolve.

Having real difficulty following - will just have to wait for the Barber thread done in Smiths lyrics 
I would imagine moaning makes very little difference until it hits the bottom line.
