More Good News About Falmer

What about the CPRE? Have they distanced themselves from an expensive, fruitless and reputation damaging appeal?

There's some encouraging news about CPRE here:-

http://www.oxfordmail.net/display.var.1551895.0.campaigners_set_for_meadow_fight.php

"We are working alongside the Friends [of Warneford Meadow, who want to appeal against a planning decision]. We have an established name and we have a lot of knowledge about town green status.

"We support them but we don't fund them, we just don't have the money."

I don't think they've stated their position either way except to express disappointment in the decision.

I imagine though that thay've other issues nationally to spend their funds on, rather than chasing a lost cause..

another nail in the coffin though reading the comments they have obviously never been to the site
They didn't need to visit the site-they had LDC's and FPC's honest descriptions and photos to base their opinions on....

South Downs Society have decided they will NOT appeal.

The South Downs Society will always campaign forcefully against proposals which will damage our Downs."

I didn't realise that the downs belonged to the South Downs Society :dunce:

To describe a wonderfully designed stadium recessed into the ground with architecture sympathetic to the Downs as "a concentre carbuncle" is disappointing, and to describe the muddy fields adjacent to the dual carriageway as "virgin Downland" is totally misleading.

There is no sense of balance in the guy's statement - it smacks of NIMBYism.

Hmmm, the South Downs Society statement shows that their real intention was to fight the Government on a point of principle about planning permission and the downs, regardless of the fact that it's an ugly looking field next to a sprawling university.

Well thanks for that chaps we've been homeless for over ten years now.
