Totally agree with this.More goals please.Propper and Stephens are NEVER going to score. As for Trossard,we can't say this early on he will get us goals for sure.It looks like he will but its early days.

Even Duff got us a few but now he doesn't play.

Trossard surely will get a few

So, i'll guess that Utd have scored direct free kicks in that time, but it ruins the point of the graphic

Oh yes, and the fact that there are 3 teams on 144 days and 3 teams on 47 suggests to me that on 97 of those days the players weren't scoring from corners because they were laying on a beach in the Bahamas

If they keep shooting the goal will come.

The fact we are playing more in our opponents' half should inevitably lead to more goals from midfield - at least they are near enough to shoot these days! I thought Alzate looked quite threatening once ort wice too - I don't think he'll be to scared to let loose when he sees a chance.

Given that we have a trio of overgrown Poplar trees in defense, and they win everything in the air, you'd expect us to take more advantage of that use up front. Particularly from set plays.

Burn headed a shot down but unfortunately it bounced up and over the bar. It was close though.

This, completely. Trossard's instinct is to shoot on sight. Said it before, say it again, he can't get back from injury quick enough. He'll transform our goal scoring capability.

And with the ever increasing competition for places with the injury crisis abating, goal scoring record I think will increasingly influence selection. If you play in an attacking position but you don't score that will cost you a place in the team no matter how good you are outside the box. The likes of Gross, March, Mooy will know they have to weight in with goals if they are going to play. Especially as Izquierdo and possibly Tau are on the horizon

Number of games or minutes played without scoring from a corner/indirect free kick would be more interesting; as some people have pointed out here this stat is pretty ****ing stupid considering Brighton played a total of 0 league games between May 20 and and August 10, making the numbers look very inflated.

Mooy had at least one pop in the Spuds game, not far off from what I can recall. Think he'll get a couple this season too, got a good right boot on him.

Propper also has had the odd shot.

Getting the midfielders in and around the box should get more goals if Potter continues to push them to take chances to score.

I think Groß has been unlucky so far this season and will be on the score sheet very soon.

Interestingly I disagree as I’ve felt that he seems reluctant to go for goal these days and seems more focused on setting up someone else. He had a perfect opportunity to score with a header at Newcastle with the goal gaping but tried to head it back across for someone else instead. There’s also been numerous times when he’s had the ball on the edge of the box and I felt he could get a shot in, but has looked for a pass instead.

Dale's volleys from corners was an interesting development.

It shows the intent to get the midfield contributing more.
Not sure it's more likely to score than getting a centre back on the end of a corner, but it certainly shows more flair!

I could perhaps be reading too much into it, and could be a case of more flair.

But I feel Potter's more pragmatic and tactical.

I wonder if the idea is make Stephens a threat and therefore drag another defender across to mark him, leaving less defence in the box and allowing for one of the bigger players to get on the end of the ball. The idea that we have the threat of Stephens on the edge makes us a threat, but switching who we target in the corner makes us even more dangerous.

At some point Mooy will get a couple of those long rangers on target, and Stephens is bound to get a couple from the new corner routine. Add in Dunk / Burn / Webster who must all fancy the odd one or two and I think we'll be fine. Could do with someone capable of sticking the free kicks in though like Knocky used to.

Looks like we are trying....

Shots by players this season

View attachment 116047

So if you look at the midfielders there (i'll include Gross), that's 26 shots and no goals. Probably a similar ratio last season even though Gross did bag a few.

We have more options now, so they'll need to improve
