Addition and Subtraction are the last thing to do and should be done left to right so in this case the subtraction is done before the addition.

Agreed. No argument. It's 30 years since I did my maths degree, but some things don't change.

because you do the multiplication and division first, so it becomes 6 - (1 x 0) + (2 / 2). 6 - 0 + 1 = 7

I don't get it, why isn't the answer 1?

It is 1. Some idiot has moved the goalposts since our day. Gets us out of helping with maths homework though so can't be all bad.
